What I am Reading Now

books, reading, Alice Hoffman

Any Alice Hoffman fans out there? I am currently reading Alice Hoffman's The Book of Magic from her Practical Magic series. It is beautifully written as are all her books. Her prose gently weaves reality, love, magic, and other life lessons together in book after book. I have read most of her novels and loved them all. I am not sure how long she has been writing, but she is quite prolific. After that, in order, I have Howard Zinn's A People's History of America, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and then another Hoffman book--that should take me through June. What are you reading or what is on your list for the summer? I am looking for suggestions.

Honestly speaking, I don't know about Alice Hoffman since I think, her book is only available in the US. I'm from the Philippines. I'm hoping that in our local bookstore as I've seen foreign authors, I'll see her book.

If you get a chance, check her stuff out. I know it can be difficult to find foreign authors.

@divalounger @kyuaf814 When we were in Ireland, we were picking up books in second-hand stores. It shouldn't have surprised me but most were by Irish authors. I don't know what I expected. LOL

@JudyEv When I was in Europe before covid, it was the same--hard to find books in English

I haven’t read any of her books. I do want to read Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s book. I read daily and from memory recall reading Twenty Years Later by Charlie Donlea, If you Knew my Sister by Michelle Adams, Lady of the Butterfly by Fiona Mountain, and several others.

@DianneN It is! During the height of Covid, I was way too anxious to read--but I am making up for lost time.

That is a lovely cover. I've read Hoffman but can't remember which book. I just finished what I thought would be a trite novel but turned out okay- The Mulligan by Jorgenson.

I don't know that one! I have moved on now to John Grisham's A Time for Mercy--so far so good!

I haven't read anything really interesting lately - mostly trashy stuff, well, not really trashy but nothing I'd recommend.

Next on my list is The Andromeda Evolution which is a follow-up to the book and movie The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton, one of my favorite authors.

I know of the Andromeda Strain but not the Androdema Evolution. I love Crichton though! So I will look it up. Thank you!
