In What Way Can You Be an Affirming Parent to Your Child

Affirming parents are those who understand the need and importance of playing a critical role in their child’s development. These are the parents who are keen to help their child develop physically, intellectually and socially- - - right from the early stages of child development. It is they, who can enable their children to blossom into well-adjusted, responsible and productive individuals. But can this really be possible? Yes. It is possible through serious commitment and hard work. In the early stages of Child Development, parents need to be responsive and readily available to all of their child's needs. By holding, loving, hugging, feeding and playing with their child, they can build a close bond called *attachment* with their child. This brand of affirmation makes an infant feel loved and cared for. It provides the child with a comfortable level of security and sets the stage for a positive outcome throughout his/her life.

I think that being a positive role model for your child is very important. Kids start learning at a very early age. They see and take in a lot more than we think they do.

You are absolutely right @celticeagle Kids are very receptive. They are watching their parents and often learn from observing their parent's behaviour.

@Gabugs ..........Yes, they sure do. So then comes the question "Are you ready to have kids?"

I agree with you. Kids need guidance and assurance since young. The growing up world is simply not easy.

@Gabugs I do know about good parenting. I was brought up by good parents and grandparents You don't know what you are talking about. Kids from good homes as well as bad homes, kids who have good parents and kids who dont- can all land in trouble and it might surprise you the number of kids from good homes and with good parents who end up in trouble.
