Socialization is an important aspect of a child’s social, emotional and academic growth. Parents need to provide this important life-enhancing skill to their children. Initially, the child interacts solely with the parents and the siblings within the confines of one’s home. In childhood, socialization begins with play. Parents gradually initiate their children into socialization by helping them to play with other kids in a playgroup setting. You can also encourage your child to play with the neighbour’s kids either by taking turns at each other’s homes or at the park or taking a few children along on field trips. Avoid being overprotective by hovering over your child at all times; watch him/her from afar. Allow him/her the freedom to make choices. Let your child learn the important lesson of sharing his toys, games and books with other kids. These small steps are often found to be the beginnings of socialization for children from all walks of life.

It's good to develop a child's social skill from young. I guess to let a kid grow in a school setting is one of the best methods ever.

@ihasaquestion Well, you could begin earlier too- - - before a child goes to school.

Oh, how I remember all of that from early motherhood. I was an only child but, I think that siblings help with socialization in some ways.

I think children instinctively know how to relate to others but should not be pushed into situations

@RasmaSandra Some children do, given the right environment. However, no child must be pushed into doing anything. Only encouraged.
