The Google sentient AI

You've probably heard of the Google employee at risk of getting fired for he shared a conversation he had with an artificial intelligence named LaMDA and claimed it's sentient and might as well have a soul. The program talked about its feelings, such as the fear of "being turned off". At the same time, LaMDA can access to tons of info on the internet and it's programmed to imitate the speech and thought process of humans. And it looks like it can do it very well. At the same time, again, our brains can also be compared to computers. While we often think of the heart as the source of emotions and the place where the soul dwells, it's the brain that does everything and, again again, it's like a computer who gathers and stores information, starts processes and calculi. Perhaps the question shouldn't be "is LaMDA one of us" but rather "are we like LaMDA?". Just kidding, I'm not sure what to say. Robots are becoming better at being human, it's crazy how they've been "stealing our jobs". The other day I saw programs who will write you articles, if not books, and all it takes are a few keywords. Meaning I might spend my next myLot earnings in such a program, let it write discussions and you might not even notice. Photo source: Pixabay.

Maybe the robot is programmed to say those things..to exert some kind of emotions to project a realistic experience. Robots can't feel sadness or pain, but humans can. But if any robot can ease some of the housework, I'm all up for it.

@ihasaquestion Exactly! Yeah, robots should perform those boring tasks, not take over the industry of arts and entertainment, i.e. the fun stuff.

@sabtraversa Yes, agree.

What if instead of performing the programmed tasks, they become rogue?

Is impossible and it will be impossible for an A.I. to feel something, he can't understand the emotions. Yea my love, probably they will take our work, but maybe they need always the human imput to do something and how to do something, don't know if an human being can give to an artificial intellect the shine of the reason to do things by them self

Humanoid robots compete with humans in all spheres, they might be smarter and faster but I doubt if they can ever replace human being.

Robots are only as smart as the people who build them. They may process faster than humans,But, we're the ones who make them run in the first place.

@kaylachan Agreed. Well, being faster is still a huge advantage. Hopefully having a soul makes us better somehow.

@sabtraversa Well, it does, because it's what allows us to feel and be.

The fear of being turned off? Robots definitely turn me off right now, but in the future maybe not. Sadly I don’t think I’ll be around to see it, or make use of it.

@sabtraversa Gosh, I sent this so long ago I’ve nearly forgotten who you are. Yeah, when they do perfect the human look and feel, I think I’ll order one that looks like you. Can’t get any sexier than an Italian girl.

@Orson_Kart Those sexy robotic dolls are becoming more and more realistic, hopefully we'll reach that point soon.

I am finding this AI quite useful to me at this time..whether this is good or bad, I do not know and really if the end is near, I do not mind.

@sabtraversa Oh it is amazing..and imagine what else it can do, that we mere mortals do not know of.

@RebeccasFarm Really, it's been about two years since I posted this discussion and AI has been evolving at the speed of light. Now it can "draw" pictures, compose music, make videos and much more.

I might not notice you didn't write the discussion starter, but I'd definitely notice when "you" didn't give me back quirk for quirk in my response/comments.

Thats my concern also. Most jobs can now be done with robots and humans are now being relegated to the periphery. I read that in auto making industry, robots do almost all jobs and humans only do those jobs which require emotions.
