Things I learned from movies as a kid

Here are a few things I figured out about the world from watching movies when I was really young. Most of these movies were on the late show. Women couldn't have children if they didn't have husbands. I knew this because men would sometimes ask women if they had children and they would reply, no, I'm not married (these are older movies). When a man grabbed a woman and kissed her passionately, it was her duty to fight and beat on his chest before passionately kissing him back. People could shoot guns without aiming and almost always hit their marks. Even if they were at a full gallop on a horse and shooting in any direction. Hercules' mouth moved differently from the words he spoke. Sadly, most Native Americans were shown as terrible, while cowboys were shown as good. You could always tell the bad guys from the good guys, because of the way they dressed, their shifty eyes, or by their demeanor. Women liked to slap men a great amount of times, and that slap was as loud as a gun shot. Sometimes it was normal to break out into a song during a regular conversation. Couples could fall in love instantly or out of love instantly and then back again in love. I wanted background music in my life. Not really I recently heard this as a joke that a major wrong in our lives is we don't have background music. I'm sure there are many, many more but that's all I can think of. Did you learn any "truths" from films when you were a kid?

At some part of my life I want to "ape" the characters in the movies. When I grew up I discovered that I had to decide what I wanted. Unfortunatly I already had got some bad habits from movies. One is that it was "cool" to smoke.

I learned from the movies as a kid as nothing gonna happen to the heroes, they finally emerge as a winner, just they have to keep calm and have to fight with the situations they face.

This is true, and someone else wrote something like this. I never thought how movies might inspire us this way.

We did not have a TV when I was a kid. But I do remember all those things in TV shows.

I can relate to alot of what you picked up as a child watching television. I remember thinking that in NYC there was a huge gorilla-Godzilla who was taller then the buildings themselves.

@misunderstood_zombie No, I've never been there. I remember shows like that from my very young childhood in the late 60's.

It's a good thing you didn't vacation there, or you would have expected him to show up. Well, I'm assuming you didn't. Maybe you did and You were relieved when he didn't show up.

I do remember stories in movies where the story was that the good guys most of the time would win a sports contest since he had a female partner or teammate that encouraged him to believe in himself that he can execute the winning play in a football game as the place kicker in the closing seconds of a big game.

Those were so exciting, you memorized all. When I was a kid I didn't watch a movie. I keep on staying outdoors with friends playing different kinds of games like hide and seek

I did that also a lot, but I loved movies so much even when I was very young. Playing is much more productive.

As a kid I enjoyed watching cartoons, wrestling and action movies. I thought wresting especially WWF was real then , as I grew old, I knew these stuff were acted, and just for entertainment purpose.
