A father and his son year old son are lucky that a 17 year old lifeguard named Aiden Mulligan-Brown who was on duty at the Lynn Deming Park in New Milford yesterday heard their cries for help when they were in the bay swimming just before closing time. Aiden saw the dad whose name was not released to the public hoisting his son on his shoulders while he was having a hard time trying to stay afloat in the bay. Aiden then used his floating device to rescue both the child and his dad who were in the bay after the child did float away after he separated away his father and take them to the shore safe and sound. Aiden hopes that both the dad and his son would ask him a favor by using a floatation device next time they go swimming in the water since the dad admits he does not have swimming skills in the first place. I am second guessing the actions of the dad who decided to swim in the bay with his son since getting into a body of water with limited swimming skills is like playing with fire. It can burn you if not handled the right way.. I am hoping that he learned his lesson to ask a lifeguard to assist them when they enter a body of water since they were lucky that Aiden was on duty at the time of the incident since Aiden was getting ready to finish his shift in a few minutes.

The father and child were lucky the Lifeguard was still on duty. Hopefully they won’t risk it again. It was a foolish thing todo since the father wasn’t a proficient swimmer.

That is what I was thinking about the dad swimming into the bay without having swimming skills to handle the current in the park.

I know what you mean since lifeguards have to have strong nerves of steel attempting to rescue anyone who is close to drowning in a body of water.

@Deepizzaguy Especially since some people try inadvertently to drown their rescuer. You wrote about that recently.

Aiden is a real hero since he was at the right place at the right time at the park.

That would have been a real worry for the Dad. Aiden did a great job.

They certainly were lucky. The father should not have taken his son out into the bay without proper swimming skills.

Common sense dictates that a person should have expert swimming skills when they enter a body of water.
