Cats are so helpful

My two cats are lovely. I enjoy them very much. Helpful? So, I lied. They knock things off the kitchen table so the floor is never really clear. They carry their toys (including bottle caps, which when stepped on feel like a Lego) and leave them all over. Currently, it is shedding season, so they leave little poufs of hair in various corners. Sometimes they leave hairballs, too. But I can tell you one very helpful thing they do. This morning I got up and found a dead bug on the floor. They help keep my house pest free. Are your animals helpful or "helpful"?

I used to live in a neighborhood where a stray cat would always steal milk and other foods from our kitchens

Animals have two sides just like us the good and the bad so while we complain of the bad, let's be grateful for the good they do

The only cat of mine I'd consider helpful at the moment would be one of our rescues Nova. Nova tends to offer emotional support whenever I'm in pain or having a mental breakdown. She'll settle me down and comfort me by licking my hand until the episode is over and I'm all right again. She was never trained for this.

True. Some of my cats are very sensitive to my feelings. Others, it's their feelings all the way!

@petatonicsca Thank you. I wish they would not do any foolishness. There will be a lot of explanation if it happens.

That is helpful to get rid of bugs or mice. My dog will clean the floor by bringing items to me for treats.

I had a dog once that would clean up all the cat kibble that the cats would spill from the edge of the bowl. She also would lap up anything I spilled, like a raw egg, once.

Wow I am late to this picking on cats party. Sorry. My fur crew are quite capable beings. I even found a pancake turner on the living room floor first thing the other day.

@petatonicsca That was one worried and maybe bored cat.

I am late to replying too. I was gone for ten days and my neighbor took care of the cats. When I got home, one of the cats (who has done this before) had redecorated the living room by hauling the big styrofoam bath mat (that we stand on when taking a shower, it's about 1 meter by 60 cm) to the middle of the kitchen.

We don't have a cat at the moment but I think mostly ours were simply entertaining.
