Update on my job

Ugh, third time I tried writing this post, I think I will copy every every time I write a sentence. I talked to the new teacher last week and we were supposed to meet yesterday to prep the room. However, when I talked to her, she said the room is carpeted and no food is allowed. This concerned me since some students (special needs room) are motivated to do work with snacks. She must have said something because she canceled before I went in and said they might give us another room. It is a little smaller, but it has no carpet and even better, it has a bathroom. I also saw the roster this morning and I was happy to see some old students. However, when I thought I was going to have an elementary room, it is more like older elementary/middle school. The grades are 4-8. So I am waiting for the teacher to confirm this new room. I am so excited for this year. @DaddyEvil

@RebeccasFarm I hope so. This is my first year as a contracted aid, so I am a little nervous as well.

Thank you. There are a couple that can be little stinkers, and of course the ones I don't know, I have no idea what they are like. So it will b e a change.

Oh, nice! The students are older than you wanted, but if you already know some of them, you're already a step ahead of where you would be otherwise! Congratulations! (Now, I'm really excited for you, too! ) With special needs students, you NEED that bathroom! I hope that IS the room you get! Oh, and yeah, myLot had a bit of trouble yesterday that I don't understand. The site went down or offline for roughly fifteen minutes (for me, at least). I haven't tried to write a new discussion since then so I don't know if it's still being affected for some reason or not. (After your experience, I'll know to write in Notepad and copy/paste any new discussion here, just to make sure.)

Thank you. Some of the students I am so happy to see they are in my room, then there are some that are little stinkers. Then I get to learn about some new students, their strengths and weakness, so it should be an interesting year. And did I mention the school is not far from where I live? That is a big plus since our car situation still isn't corrected.

@DaddyEvil There are stories I rather not mention here, but trust me, some of them can be a handful.

@Carmelanirel2 You're welcome. I don't believe any of the sweet little angels are stinkers. No, you didn't mention that! Oh, good! That just makes things better!

Glad the room situation worked out. Some snacks won't leave crumbs, like string cheese or fruit. But why worry about the carpet - is there no vacuum?

@AliCanary Yes, plus on Fridays the teacher has them cook things. Our first Friday was waffles, last Friday was doughnuts. These are very messy foods. lol

@Carmelanirel2 I guess there are very few foods that aren't messy in the hands of kids! I adore string cheese as a snack.

It was scary meeting the new students and I think they felt the same way because they both were shy, but now they both have gotten to know and like me. Actually, the one student became jealous of another student who I knew before, which has caused some friction, but we are taking care of it.

The carpet should be removed. That's my point of view.

The school is just a few years old, so the carpet probably is still in good condition. Besides, having a bathroom in the room with special needs students is a huge benefit. .

@Carmelanirel2 But of course we can't control the attitude of the students.

@luisga814 That's why I mentioned their needs. Yes, we can't control them, but we do the best we can to teach them.
