Elvis the movie

Just watched the new Baz lehrman movei with tom hanks and Im not quite sure what to think .
I didnt really learn anything about Elvis , there was actually very little dialogue and also some rap music at the beginning.
The second half seemed more like what I was expecting and have to say the actor actually looked like John Travolta rather than Elvis

The best Elvis movie l saw was one made years ago called "This is Elvis" . The guy who played the young Elvis looked like him. Then later in the movie they used clips of the real Elvis from his performances on the Ed Sullivan show, movies and live performances.

@58lordstreet l looked at the end of the movie only once and that was the first time l saw it. All the other dozen times l watched it l stopped half an hour before the end. Why ? Because it was heartbreaking to see how bloated he had become in those later years.

@Kandae11 yes I wish the would concentrate more on the good times in peoples lives sometimes .......they skipped right over any good times in this movie

the real Elvis makes an appearance at the end of this one as well

Thanks for this review and opinion. I haven’t heard about this movie but if it crosses my path will lower my expectations.

Its new out this week I think ........some of it is good and some of it doesnt really cover much although it is quite a long film

@58lordstreet so I guess it was made for profit and not substance. Very hard to find movies made for substance these days.

@Greencindere probably style over substance the best singing was from people not called Elvis lol

@58lordstreet I think it was the films that put me off him - he could act, as some early films show but they made the films quickly just to sell the soundtracks

you will need a few hours spare lol Tom hanks is almost unrecognisable, I usually like his films but wasnt so keen on him here, I guess he wasnt his usual likeable persona

dont let me put you off my neighbours enjoyed it - its over 3 hours long I think , almost gone with the wind lol
