Unexpected Reactions

I was with our company driver at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh City, Saudi Arabia to apply for a new passport. At the main gate, one of the security guards who was a Saudi National confronted us for identification. Our company driver produced his driver's license and the guard acknowledged it and I told our driver to wait for me in the waiting area inside the Embassy. Then I handed my company ID to the guard in which my name was written in Arabic but the guard ignored it. I produced another ID from my wallet that I used to remit money to the bank. The guard looked at it and then said, "I'm not a bank teller." Fed up but I remained cool, I took another ID. I gave it to him, and he looked at it, turned it this way and that. I saw him smiling while looking at the picture, which I attached on the card with those numbers the date of expiry - January 31, 2003. It was my membership card for the Freelance Writers Group. Then he gave it back to me with his approval and comments, said: "You look alike, my grandpa!" I wanted to reply to his comments though I did not pursue it because I was afraid he might change his mind so I left him and walked inside the Philippine Embassy's premises without looking back ignoring his unexpected reactions! I feel happy and feel younger every time I remember that memorable incident that happened to me 13 years ago...

It's nice to hear people say that we look the same as when we were young.

When I got home, I still remember how happy was the guard while he was looking at the picture. When he said, "you look alike, my grandpa." I realized it and felt it, he expressed it to show his love for his grandpa. Finally, I just charged it to one of the many experiences I have gone through in my life abroad...Thank you @AninditaSengupta for your time and comments.

@PRUELPO I am happy that life has been generous to us and does not reflect our age on her face.

It is annoying when you step into people who are rude and abuse of their position. I am glad he did no stop you.

@PRUELPO You did what it was the best to do, often those people try to start an argument.

That guard was rude, he should have acknowledged the first ID.

That was also my first feeling about the guard @rebelann1949. But when I got home, I can feel happiness inside as I remember the guard's facial expression and what he said...

This is funny. How old were you to look like the guard's grandfather 13 years ago?

@PsalmOne, that pic was cooked when I was 43yrs young. In 2009, in Riyadh City, I renewed my passport. From 2009 to the present year, it is already 13 years that passed. And I have no choice but to take it as a memorable event that happened in the past.

If it happened to me, and based from my experience, I might just ignore them and would not take them seriously...Thank you, @JohnEvans for your time and comments. Appreciated...
