Mark David Chapman, the man who murdered John Lennon in 1980 went up for parole in August. Chapman, who is 67, has been in custody at the Green Haven Correctional Facility in Beekman, New York since August 1981. On December 8, 1980, John Lennon was returning to his New York apartment building, The Dakota, with his wife Yoko Ono when Chapman came out from nowhere and shot Lennon. The singer had signed Chapman's copy of his new album Double Fantasy earlier that day. Chapman comes up every couple of years for parole and this is the 12th time it has been denied.

He’ll likely spend the rest of his life in prison.

I read about this. If Chapman were to ever get parole, the uproar would be tremendous.

I think so too. I loved many of Lennon's songs. "Imagine" was #1.

Chapman should feel relieved that he was denied parole. If he gets out and is on the street it is very likely that he will end up being brutally killed himself. He's lucky he hasn't been attacked in prison. My father worked in a correctional facility (prison) and it wasn't unheard of that prisoners that were convicted of high-profile murders ended up being murdered themselves. With having murdered a popular person like Lennon, it is amazing that Chapman is still alive!!!

Yes, I hadn't thought of that. So true. ' Like Dahmer and several others. Maybe someone who was a Lennon fan just hasn't been indicted yet and put in that particular prison.

@celticeagle In all this time there had to be a Lennon fan put in that prison, it's just that they haven't gotten to him yet.

It seems so strange to me he can even keep applying or whatever happens that he is denied. There was a really good movie about this on Netflix a few years ago.
