OPEC's Power to Raise Gas Prices Came Directly from the United States

Hear me out. I understand many of you are not going to like what I have to say. But it has to be said. Gas prices did shoot up about 30 cents or more a gallon after OPEC announced it would pull back oil production significantly. That is what the news will tell you. That is what the Biden administration will argue. And yes. They are right. I am not going to lie. That IS part of the reason that gas prices are spiking. But, it is important to note that that's not the whole story, and it is the part that I think is the important part, that people need to understand and get wrapped around their heads. WHY is OPEC back in charge of dictating what we should pay at the pump? It is, of course, the begging question with a very obvious answer. Because Biden reversed ALL of Trump's energy policies that made America energy independent. I don't care how you want to spin it, or how the Biden administration wants to spin it, or how the media wants to spin it. That is the answer. The strategic reserves, which were emptied to artificially bring down prices and increase supply that now have to be refilled notwithstanding. Folks, the only reason OPEC matters in this narrative is because we made OPEC matter. This cannot be left out of the story. It cannot be left out of the explanation. At the very moment Biden decided to shut down America's oil, we put everyone else in charge of the price. And we have no one to blame for it than Biden himself. I know it is difficult to get that. It is difficult for some to accept that. But that is it in a nutshell. If the United States was energy independent right now OPEC would not have any control whatsoever in the flow of oil to the world. And the decision to reduce production of oil right now would have no impact, because all we would have to do is open our own spigot wider. Harsh as it is, that is the truth neither the Biden administration nor the media will tell you. OPEC will be the story. But Biden is the explanation.

Of course you are correct on every point here. Biden's plan from day one was to undo everything Trump did. Not saying Trump was perfect. Or everything Trump did or said I agreed with, but Biden was determined to undo it all. And now we live with the consequences of his stupid actions.

That is the one thing people miss. Did we support Trump, or did we support good policy? Because that is the difference. And for all Trump's antics and shortcomings, at least we knew we had a secure border and a plan to deal with it. We knew we had our police funded and our military well taken care of. We knew that businesses were not strapped with regulations that held back expansion and hiring. We knew we had more people working, and lower unemployment rates among minority groups. We knew we had a booming stock market bolstering retirees retirement accounts and making life easier for them. We knew we had better gas prices and no inflation. Trump was not perfect. But at least we knew, despite it all, that the country was not going south and people were getting on and getting ahead.

@porwest Exactly. Many things about Trump were lacking. But we felt safe on all of those issues. We know nothing now. Except we are NOT safe. And the country is falling apart. That about sums it up. And don't dare ask a question.. about anything. No questions allowed.

@CarolDM The "question" part is the puzzling one for me, especially when the "question' is being questioned by the left. Of course, I am referring to the stolen election idea. It went on for four entire years that the election was stolen by Trump, and the media went right along with it, only to call the idea ridiculous when it was the right making the claim. Now, Hillary is back out there saying we can't allow another election to be stolen—so, it is still a narrative on the left that the Russia collusion story, proved false many times over, is still on their mind. But when they report about Russia collusion, they never use the word "alleged" like they do when they talk about Trump's claim. I honestly don't think it is has ever been quite this divided in politics as it is now, and I don't think it is healthy.

Yes, OPEC's cutback will cause gas prices to spike. And for all the reasons you stated! But Biden's devious administration actual plan is to cripple the oil/gas industry to collapse, to quicken the pace of their ill-advised climate change/alternative energy program.

That is the other part of the story I do not often talk about. But of course that is part of it. They are married to this green thing and their belief in climate change, and so to them, burning everything else down is right up their alley and very desirable.

@porwest Yes, to these elite liberals it's like being in a religious cult. Yet so many of them fly on planes which use fuel, how hypocritical is that John Kerry, climate czar

@dgobucks226 There has always been a saying that I think is true. I do not vote republican because I am rich. I vote republican because I want to have the opportunity to become rich. Democrat policies almost invariably keep poor people poor, and democrats work very hard to keep that the case. Whenever you hear a democrat talk, the one thing you pick up on immediately is that they talk down to their constituents as though they are incapable, stupid people that need all sorts of help to get through life. They talk about misery and woe and unfairness—but only to confirm in the minds of the people that vote for them that their problems are not their fault, and to convince the woeful brethren that the democrats will protect them and guide them and right the wrongs of the world holding them down. The ironic thing is that the people who cast the democrat vote never figure it out that their misery and poverty are only maintained. Not fixed or corrected. You look at democrat run inner cities, fraught with crime, filth, joblessness and poverty, and you wonder how any of these people could even CONSIDER continuing to be democrats and vote for same failed policies over and over and over again. Then you get things like what happened to Kavanaugh and you get the democrats saying "this is what happens when you espouse certain politics," only to be horrified when a guy shows up at Pelosi's door with a hammer and THEN calling for action. Democrats continue to believe in raising taxes unable to see that nowhere ever in the history of the country has raising taxes done anything but destroy the economy. Yet they continue to want to do it. Democrats can see an entire world history of socialism's failure, and yet latch onto the idea of it as a pathway to a better life. I will never be able to comprehend why anyone would support this ideology. But many do. In part I think it is because these people are a group of people who want to be victims. Who want to be told what to do. Who enjoy someone championing an excuse for their personal failures. Who enjoy taking the lazy way through life and passing blame onto productive people. Who want something for nothing because they feel they are entitled to it just because they exist. In some ways, it is actually quite fascinating, and maybe not nearly as complicated as some would lead us to believe.

That is how it always has been the leaders do what they are determined to do and us regular folk live with the consequences,

It is why a vote is so important, and beyond that, actually KNOWING what we are voting for. Many people have no idea why they are casting a vote, and that is where the real pain comes from. The trashed up, poverty-stricken communities all run by democrats is a prime example of that.

Trump undid pro-environmental policies. Biden restored them. It wasn’t about Trump but about doing the right thing for the environment.

I actually watched the news for a little bit last night, the broadcast also covered the prices with the fact that they are doing something to the fuel mix to do something beneficial for the winter fuel usage. I don't remember exactly what it was supposed to do for the usage for the winter, but I think it was supposed to raise the fuel prices. Ahh, as they say, "The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer." I became very disgusted with the news report at that point and changed the channel. Let's face it, we can argue about which politician has caused what, but we get nowhere fast. We're stuck with what they "accomplished" until the next election; then we can hope to change things with our vote?

The problem with the "vote" is that if people are ignoring the truth or not accepting it, the right vote won't happen. I think at some point what would be best is for more people to set aside their politics and start paying attention to what is really going on. MOST of the time I would say presidents don't control economies or even gas prices. But when you can directly point to economic policies and energy policies that DO have an impact, that makes the argument for who is responsible clear cut. Beyond that, it is clear that people voted out a successful president, so the "vote" is not at all reliable to send us in the right direction.
