PTM day... being the P and T on the same day.

Good afternoon from this side of the planet. It's 3:49 PM here as I write this post and it's drizzling outside. It's been gloomy, cloudy and drizzling since yesterday. Our neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu is facing a severe rain crisis since the beginning of this month. Schools and colleges have been closed due to severe rain there. And being close to them we get this rain and gloomy weather for next few days. There is heavy to very heavy rain alert in the next four days.
It's Friday here and Yay!!
weekend begins.
Today was a long working day and I have been on my feet since morning. It was a PTM ( Parents Teachers meeting) day at my school as well as in my younger daughter's Pre University college. So, I was on both sides of table ( being a teacher and a parent).
I had 8 back to back meetings with parents ar my school with a 30 minutes break for coffee. I got over at 1. I took the plot for post lunch meeting at my daughter's school. It went for an hour fron 2_3. And we returned home at 3:30 to have our late lunch. It was heartening to get good responses from all teachers at her pre University college.
Now, I feel too tired and want to rest my feet.. I planned to take a short nap as the weather is making me feel lazy
, but somehow I am not able to. So, I would mylot to relax for an hour. If sleep comes, I would nap.

Do you find yourself trying to take over the meetings when you're the parent? 
I'm glad your daughter is doing well... But we both knew she'd do well.
Put your tired feeties up and rest them for a while. (When your hubby gets home, ask him to rub them for you... that will make them feel better, too.)

No, I am a well behaved parent . And since I get to be on the other side of the table too, I very well know what's expected from a parent.
I could get a good rest and mylotting did help me relax.

Yes, it is. I guess all parents who are into teaching get to be on both sides of tables. But on the same day is a rare coincidence. It has happened a couple of times in the last 16 years of my job as an educator.

"Greetings" for the first November post!!
PTM days can be very busy and it sounds as if yours was extra extra busy !!!
There is so much to talk about in these meetings and often waiting times can be 20 to 30 minutes or more(for students and parents' turn).
Similarly, the teachers have to attend to different parents n students one after another.
No rains here, but the air pollution caused schools to switch to online mode for a few days
The situation is slightly better but not something that can be counted as good especially for the kids.

Since I am not a class teacher or subject teacher, I don't meet a lot of parents. Only those who are parents of special needs that I work with or children those might need extra help or counseling. But then I have meetings more frequently with these parents, so I have few meetings every week.
That day was a PTM day and after the two meetings with my special needs students parents, I had to be there as admin coordinator of kindergarten, if some parents wished to meet me
Online classes are no fun especially for young children. My niece is hating it but then that's the only choice.

Well, both online and offline have pros and cons.
Now with temperatures dropping, I wish for online classes since then one can get some more sleep in the Morning!!

It's a pre University college. She is in grade 11. This group of institutions has Montessori to degree college in the same campus. They do the PTMs for degree college too. That's one big reason we chose this institute. They keep parents involved in everything.

Yes, it can be tiresome. But it's a part of my job and so I do it well with all my heart. Being a special educator, I get to meet parents more frequently than the regular teachers.

I did take a short nap and that made me feel good and stay active and productive for the rest of the evening. It's Saturday evening here and I am keeping my weekeds slow and relaxed..

Yes, it can be stressful. But then it's a part of my job and I do it with all my heart. Being a special educator, I have frequent meetings with parents. Every week I have few to design IEP, catch with development and programs.

It didn't rain here since the morning. Now it's 5 PM Saturday here and I can see dark clouds. We might get rain in some time.

That's my experience before as a parent and a teacher. I had to attend the PTA meeting of the school of my children and then go back to school where I am teaching.
