Now, this is something that I don't talk about here much. Yet in a Quiz, I came across a question about this Bread from Italy. It is named Ciabatta. This was first produced 40 years back; in 1982 by Arnaldo Cavallari, a miller and baker in a small town close to Venice. This Bread was made to counter the popularity of French baguettes which posed a risk to the Italian bakers. After weeks of trying and testing breads, the Ciabatta came to be and consisted of a soft, wet dough with gluten flour. Now I am likely to search for some genuinely flavored Ciabatta near the place I live. Let me see how things go! Source used :

I loved the baguettes in France. I think I could live on just baguettes and butter.

@JudyEv I think I tasted Baguettes once. Yet I am not sure of its pronounciation.

@JudyEv I thought of the pronounciation as "Baughh - ettes" but perhaps I can use what you have recommended.

@JudyEv Some words' pronounciation can be tricky. Even words like Procedure, Schedule are now pronounced in many different ways.

@dfollin It is not that popular here but may be in some Niche Italian style bakery shop. So I need to search and find out. Plus at a reasonable rate, not at a very high price!

I know that ciabatta is a recent bread, it became popular after I left Italy. It is very similar to those we called "Francesine" in the old times.

@LadyDuck As per what I read, it originated in 1982 and may have gained popularity after that.
