And now for some genealogical intrigue. The man featured in the article shares the same last name as my mother's maiden name. But his Postels were from Bavaria and Mom's are from Weaverthorpe in Yorkshire, England (to this day). But this guy's THIRD wife was my 5th cousin 5 times removed on my dad's side, despite the husband's similar name to my mother. As I was finding his marriages and seeing how soon afterwards his brides would die, I couldn't help but wonder what the deal was. After his fourth wife died, the authorities decided to look into it. They authorized the exhumation of their remains to see what they could find. One wife's attending physician said it looked like arsenic poisoning to him. They all had stomach issues. One died two months after giving birth, which was far more frequent them than now. Could that be a contributing factor? Plus, wife #2 was the daughter of wife #1. Why would a daughter marry the man who her mother was married to when she died? What do you think? If he had nothing to gain, was there a reason to kill them? I haven't found the results of that investigation yet, but I'm going to keep looking.
