We had plans for vacations..

We have a layoff at work for 5 days. We had planned to go to Udaipur or Jaisalmer which we put down because of the cold wave, also things are costly for every tourist place here because of the new year celebrations. The hotel rent is almost double or triple times which is on normal days. Kids are upset about the same as they were excited to go to these places. We have never visited a desert area and it was the first time we would have explored desert. Even I am upset Has it happened to you that you might have planned a family tour and has to cancel it for any reason at the last moment.

Yes it is common but when kids expect more and their expectations are not fulfilled it feels bad.

Sometimes, it is better not to plan. But more than anything though a good planning is necessary.

Yes, it has. Our second time trip to Phuket had to be cancelled because of Covid and lockdown. Recently we planned for few trips but they could not work for some or the other reasons..Kids are quite justified to be upset. You have to convince them that going out in this cold wave in not safe. Stay warm. Stay indoors.

No, that's never happened to us... probably because we don't make plans to go on vacations. If we decide to go somewhere, it is always spur-of-the-moment for us. We decide we want to go and we pack and leave. Pretty doesn't travel well anymore so we rarely go anywhere.

You have strong reasons. Just tell kids about the pros and cons.

I'm sorry you needed to cancel your plans. I'm sure there were many things I canceled at the last minute but I can't think of any right now. I remember now, we rescheduled our church Christmas party due to the weather. I don't know how I could forget that. Our party is tomorrow night.

That's a shame you had to cancel. I hope you're able to go again one day. We've had to cancel several trips over the years. It's annoying how places raise their prices at peak times.

I avoid going to places during the festive season because of prices. I prefer doing so during the low season

Not a vacation, but I planned to go home for Christmas recently, but cancelled because my brother and mom was infected with Covid. They are tested negative now, but still needs around 2 weeks to self quarantine more.

That is quite upsetting. Maybe you can plan another during the off peak season.

We went out for dinner. Nothing special we did as I was not well, and had cough and cold.

That happened during covid and we cancelled all of our plans. Than my husband fell and hurt his leg real bad so we could not go anywhere last year. But it is healed after a year so hopefully we can go next summer.

I am sorry you have to cancel, but it is all the time too expensive to travel around the end of the year.

That’s dry disappointing, but these things can’t be helped. Hopefully, you and the kids can go sooner than expected.

We were at the airport ready to scan our tickets for our flight to New Zealand for 4 weeks holiday with our accomodation & campervan whatever it was, booked in advanced. We couldn't go that Friday afternon because 1/2 of the family had our passport expired or about to be expired. THAT was a painful time when we had to pay extra extra to get our passports done urgently the next Monday.
