Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned

Didn't we all have urban legends and ghost stories going around when we were young? For me, it was Hatchet Man and an old military cemetery we liked to visit. Well, here is a ghost story that joins these ranks: In a small resort town in northern Vermont, a love story bloomed back in the early 1850s. A poor teenage girl named Emelie had fallen for a rich boy. They got to the point of talking about marriage and planned to meet at a favorite covered bridge nearby. The Goldbrook bridge near Stowe is one of over 100 covered bridges in the area. Vermont is said to have the largest concentration of covered bridges in the United States. So, Emelie and her boyfriend planned to meet at the bridge at midnight. Emelie got there several minutes early and set waiting for this young man she had fallen in love with to arrive. And she continued to wait until she finally realized he wasn't coming. Her emotions shifted from anger to overpowering sadness. She ended up jumping from the bridge to the rocks below and her death. Now when men visit the bridge they hear her voice, get scratched and experience the wrath of this scorned young woman. One couple decided one evening to check out the bridge. They drove their car onto the bridge and killed the engine. As the engine cooled fog began to rise around the car. The woman in the passenger seat directed her husband to look out his side window. There was stringy hair and dark, brooding eyes staring at them. He hurriedly tried to start the car, but it stalled several times before they could finally drive off the bridge and hurry home. When they reached home and got out of the car they noticed scratch marks along the driver's side of the car. Were these the markings of the vengeful spirit of the jilted girl? Do you believe places that have been the site of suicides, murders, and other horrible acts can be haunted? Do you believe in the paranormal? (I answer yes to both questions.)

Maybe... but I haven't experienced anything like that. I have seen and talked with ghosts, though.

I have too. Saw my great-grandmother soon after she passed. I have experienced more paranormal than ghosty stuff.

@celticeagle There is a ghost that lives in our house. She likes to sit on the edge of my bed and watch me sleep. When I wake up, she still watches me until I move or say something and then she gets up and walks out of my room through the closed bedroom door.

@DaddyEvil ..........How interesting. I have often thought it would be so cool to live in a haunted house. As long as it is a non-evil one.

No, I don’t believe in the paranormal. When I was growing up there was a tale about a headless horseman. I wrote a poem about it. .

I believe in ghosts because I lived in a house that was haunted.

How cool! I do believe in them because I have seen them. I probably wouldn't if I hadn't experienced them first hand.

I don't believe them. But I come across with this saying: if you do believe them, they will exist. If you don't, they don't

There are many unexplained things in the world. I don't believe in the paranormal.
