I will have visitors. The story of a friendship.

Lucho and Eliana are some of my close friends. I knew Lucho from literary get togethers but did not know her wife at all and in those meetings we just talked about books and authors. Then one day, around 20 or so years ago, he told me that he wanted to come and visit me to ask me a favor. Of course I said. And he told me that they had just adopted a baby as they could not have one of their own. He had written a book about the adoption process and he wanted me to present the book. That was going to happen in the National Library and all the money the book got would be given to the adoption institution (which legally is just one in my country). I could not say no and was very much worried as I had not read any of his books. What if it was a bad book? What would I say? But the book was lovely and moving, with the kind that books like The little prince have. The name was the story about Miss X as they did not name her until they had her with them. The book was a success and our friendship grew. Once, years later, they came with Mariela (Miss X´s name). She was a beautiful child and confidentied to me that her only sorrow was that she did not have her mother´s curly hair Lucho and Eliana now have 2 children. The other is a boy (grown up now). They have studied and are now working. They visit me often and they always bring delicious things to eat. I look what I have and we share. Lucho just called me to see if I would be here this evening. They wanted to come. I said fine if you don´t look too much at my mess. Tomorrow is Anita´s day to help me clean and I don´t do much the day before. And the groceries will come tomorrow so there is not much at home. But I found a can of green olives with jalapeños and another can of smoked mussels. I have almost a bottle of a bottle of very good wine that my cousin brought. And there´s the Scotch and other drinks that keep until they are drank. I´m happy, friends. This will be a perfect end of the month.
