Dance Tunes - #1 - Mashed Potato

The Mashed Potato was introduced by James Brown in 1959; but became a big hit in 1962 when "Mashed Potato Time" was released and sung by Dee Dee Sharp. Born Dione LaRue, her brother called her Dee; and she sung in D Sharp...thus the name, Dee Dee Sharp. An American R&B singer, Sharp began her career in 1961 as a backup singer.
The dance is done with foot movements resembling squashing a bug or putting out a cigarette (see video below). A variation of the Mashed Potato was "Monster Mash" released by Bobby Pickett. The footwork was the same but "monster gestures" were made with the arms and hands.

@rebelann There is some of the 80s music that I like as well. The recent music doesn't do much for me.

I remember both of those songs. And.the dance. We use to play the fire out of Monster Mash for Halloween.
