The drain guy said that there is an obstruction somewhere out in the yard; so after all this money we spent, we still have to have the yard dug up. I told hubs we should get it done before there's a heavy rain or we could ruin the furnace again...he wants to wait until the yard dries up...which could be late summer. Spent $434, $85, $89, $735 and $395. This does not include the cost of the water heater and installation. Happy Valentine's Day! Do you celebrate Valentine's Day? We don't. 35 days until spring. The weather has been so mild that it's a little freaky. Breakfast - Oatmeal square Lunch - Meals on Wheels - Basil chicken, noodles, mixed veggies, spinach and pears Dessert/Snack - Brownie and decaf coffee Dinner - Cabbage rolls, sauerkraut and a potato What did you eat yesterday? Good grief, that's way too much money to have spent but I suppose you can always look at it as having found a more reliable repair service that doesn't charge over 7k.

We haven't gotten an estimate from the new guy yet for digging up the yard.

@rebelann We're hoping it's a lot less than the $7,000+ estimate from the other guy.

Hopefully this will be the fix to last. I would think that getting it done sooner before later will let the warmth from the sunshine dry out the area after it has been escavated and you can get grass growing again before the cold weather sets in. And also, if they need to dig again, you will not have to wait for the winter to pass. We celebrate Valentines Day, it is a difficult time of the year for us, with our late daughter's birthday being this week, so we continue to love and cling to each other. It is such an amazing feeling to still be in love after all of these decades-we think that it is worth celebrating.

This water problem is becoming very, very expensive. I am sorry. I cannot say that we celebrate Valentine's Day, but it's a good excuse for a nice dinner tonight.

Do you have to wait on your hubby to get the work done? I ate beef taquitos for breakfast, a huge cinnamon roll for lunch and pasta with chicken for supper. I hope you have a quiet day.

Yes. We don't agree on this; but I will have to wait until he says or until the basement floods again.

Those repairs are getting to be very expensive. I love your photo. I didn't realise raccoons had such long fingers and toes. I find them very endearing little creatures.

Yes. Some people have them as pets; but they're very mischievous. They get into everything.

This is just getting worse and worse for you. I think all of a sudden you may have fared better just ditching Ohio and heading for a condo in the Keys for crying out loud. Oh well. Hey, racoons are cute as hell. I used to have them with me in my pest control truck all the time and used to carry hot dogs to feed them before I would release them somewhere discreet. For dinner we had braised pork steaks and tater tots. It was good.

Raccoons are cute but you must be careful that you don't get bitten. How cool that you fed them before releasing them.

@porwest They are cool little creatures; but many have rabies. People that have them as pets say that they are very mischievous and get into everything.

@LindaOHio I never felt uncomfortable working with them, even though I had a couple of very angry ones. But when I opened the trap door they just went their merry way. I tried to let them know any way I could that they were not in any danger. But of course they did not understand me. lol

Oh, aren’t they cute little demons? There’s a severe weather threat from the Gulf coast to Buffalo on Thursday, so yes, the warm weather is “a little freaky.” Be weather aware! CTS for lunch and a nuked tater for dinner.

Goodness, you've spent a fortune! I know that's discouraging to need to dig up the yard after everything that's been done. Is there an expert or professional you could ask when the best time is to do it?

I think it should be done before the spring rains. I don't want to start all over again with a flooded basement.

I would not wait. If you put it off it may run you even more money. Do you choose the food you get or do they pick for you?

@lovebuglena No. You get the same as everyone else. Hubs and I don't eat beets or raw onions. We still get the meals with those things in them. We just don't eat that part.

I hope that mess you are dealing with will be over soon. The expense is awful. I'm sorry for that and for you. I bought groceries and ended up eating a dreary frozen cheese pizza and some bowtie pasta salad for supper. Take care.
