Hello everyone, good afternoon. Yesterday afternoon I had to sleep at 4 PM, because of a migraine headache. After a long time, I woke up but didn't know whether it was night or morning. I asked my mother to make sure and asked for the time, she said it was more than 5 o'clock. Oh, it was only 5 in the afternoon, I thought it was night or even morning. My friend also slept in the afternoon, just woke up at 5.30 PM, because she was shocked and panicked she immediately took a shower and got ready for school, until she was asked by her family where she was going because she was wearing a school uniform, she said she wanted to go to school, and then was told that it was still afternoon not morning. She just realized. Do you have a similar experience, why do people who wake up during the afternoon tend to be dazed. What do you think about sleeping in the afternoon after 4 PM? Thank you.

I sleep during the day out of necessity. Like sudden headaches or other illnesses that require me to get more rest.

The problem is when you sleep after 4pm, whether it's 5pm or what time, when you wake up you're usually startled and dazed.

@Icydoll Taking a nap between 2 PM - 3.30 PM is the best time for me to take a nap. If it's more than 4 PM, get ready to experience strange and funny things like my friend.

I only sleep 6 hours a day and never take a nap. In fact, if I sleep very long my body feels like it's going to break.

@astutimeliana723 I'm used to going to bed at midnight around 12 to 2 o'clock unless fasting is usually earlier.

I used to sleep at 10 PM and wake up at 4 AM. So, I need an occasional nap even if it's only 30 minutes to 1 hour.

@May2k8 If I don't sleep at 10 pm, it will be difficult to sleep. I can stay up until morning.

I am retired with noplace to go and all day to get there, so I sleep whenever the droopy eyes hit me no, matter what time the clock says it is. Then if I wake up at 2 AM and go play on the computer until 5 AM (the same day) it's obvious that I am going to fall asleep in my recliner around 3 PM and sleep until dinnner, then fall asleep again while I am trying to watch TV and wake up again at 2 AM and the cycle continues.

@astutimeliana723 No it sure doesn't. I eat breakfast when my old belly tells me it's time, no matter what the clock says. It might be around 6-7 AM or some days it's after noon. Same with all my meals except Dinner and when my phone next to my computer rings I had better be sitting at the table in the next 5 minutes at most.

If your bedtime is like that, doesn't it interfere with your eating pattern? I have breakfast around 6-7 AM, lunch around 1-2 PM, and dinner around 6-7 PM.

@RubyHawk Im sorry to hear that. If I have a migraine, I usually sleep in a dark place, during the day it means I have to close the doors, windows and lights. It makes me recover faster.

I don't often have a sleeping in the afternoon. As to having a sleep after 4pm, this is not a normal for me. It is likely I am sick at that time and therefore I have to have a sleep

I take my afternoon power nap around 4 PM and it's for 20_40 minutes max. Sometimes on weekends I can extend it to little more than an hour. Those incidences are hilarious and I think most of us have experienced something like that in our life

Yes, you're right, there are not a few who experience things like that because of the effects of panic and shock. That's just a small part that I tell.

I find that the best way to cope with a migraine is to lie down and have a sleep. If I have to do this during the day , I wake up wondering where I am for a few seconds. The scary part is when I go to sleep in the daylight and when I wake up it is dark, but this mostly happens if I sleep for a long time.

I can take naps any time of the day or night but if I sleep for more than 1 hour, I have a very groggy feeling and it takes me a while to wake up, similar to what you are describing. They say cat naps of 20 to 30 minutes are the healthiest and when you wake up from the shorter naps, you won't feel so dazed as you and your friend did.. But since you have migraines you may need more time to sleep.

Yes, it is possible. But usually things like my friend happen because of the effects of shock and panic when I wake up. So, even if you sleep for a while, this can still happen.

Not had this kind of experience of late but when I was in school it had happened once that I woke up in the evening and thought it was morning and went to the kitchen for my breakfast.

That's funny about your friend. I never nap that late unless I'm ill, but at times, I do wake up disoriented even after a 20 minute nap.

I've had that experience when I had a really good deep sleep. I'm so dazed I'm kind of lost in time and took me a while before it sank to me what time of the day it is. About sleeping in the afternoon, I usually would only take naps no more than 30 minutes, sometimes an hour and no later than 4 pm because it disrupts my night time sleep.
