A Bad Three-Day Weekend

Ha, is there such a thing as a bad three-day weekend? Yes, unfortunately! This week, I am doing what I call my "3-3-3". That is, I took off Monday and I'm off today, so that I get a three-day weekend, a three-day workweek, and another three-day weekend. It really helps break things up and give me time to rest and get my own stuff done, and it only costs me two vacation days. In my opinion, it's even better than taking a week off, because I can do it three times for only about the same amount of vacation days. Sounds good so far, right? Well, it usually is. This past Friday, I was all excited about all of the big plans I had for all of the things I wanted to do on my three-day weekend, but suddenly, things came to a screeching stop when I started to feel sick. Yes, that was the problem--I had gotten some kind of stomach bug, and I felt so awful that I had to leave work early and go straight home and to bed without being able to do any of the errands and things I had planned for the day. I was sick in bed for almost 24 hours, then after that, I was only able to eat a little bit at a time, and I had no energy. By the time Monday came, I finally felt much better, ad I did enjoy my day off. My three-day workweek went by just fine, and now I am into my second three-day weekend, with a Friday off. Luckily, I feel fine now, and I am hoping to do the things that I missed doing last weekend. One thing I wanted to do was spend some time on MyLot, so I'm glad be doing that, now!

You must have had that norovirus that is going around. Glad you are feeling better and enjoy your second 3-day weekend much more.

We're thinking that's what it was. I detest being sick to my stomach! Fortunately that only happens once every few years. I have a real sympathy for people who have to deal with it more often, like people dealing with pregnancy or chemotherapy.

@AliCanary I once hoped I'd get it when all my friends had it so I could knock off a few pounds. Well, my wish came true, and it was just awful! What a lunatic I was I read that it's going around the country in certain areas and could be very dangerous due to dehydration and lack of nutrients. So glad you are well again.

@DianneN Thank you! It does knock off a few pounds, but that's definitely not the way to do it, lol. Yes, I was worried about dehydration, especially because I didn't really want to drink or eat anything. I made myself sip water and ginger ale.

That's a shame that your first 3 days off was spoilt by being sick. As they say, Man proposes and God disposes. Or make that 'Woman proposes and God disposes.

I'm sorry you were sick. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of work do you do? I only think of you as being an artist! It's good to see you again; and I hope you have a good long weekend.

Thank you, me too! The worst symptoms were over after about a day and a half, but it took me about three days after that to feel normal. :/

I wondered if it were food poisoning, but based on the symptoms and the duration, we think it was probably a virus, instead. Apparently norovirus is going around. Nasty little bug!
