The name John Schneider is familiar. With fans of the television show "The Dukes Of Hazzard" which played on television which played from 1979-1985. However I did not know that his namesake is the current manager of the Toronto Blue Jays who by his own admission was at the right place at the right time inside of a restaurant in Dunedin Florida two weeks ago. A woman who was inside of the restaurant whose name was not released began to choke on a shrimp. John who was near the choking victim used the Heimlich maneuver to get the food particle out of her mouth, John was rewarded by the grateful patrons inside the restaurant with a beer. The funny thing is John who is 43 years of age admitted that the last time he used the Heimlich maneuver was when he was in sixth grade. Link is nypost.com/2023/02/blu...via @nypostsports

That is true since John did mention that he was the only person inside of the restaurant who had any knowledge what to do to save the woman from choking on her food.

Being in the right place at the right time; good job, way to go. By the way, I think John is more like 62 years old not 43. The Dukes of Hazzard began about 43 years ago.

You are right that the actor John Scheiner is 62 years of age and is a patriot. The manager of the Blue Jays who is the namesake of the team is 43 years of age.

'Schneider' is a German word and surname. It means 'tailor'. I bought shrimps for lunch tomorrow. I'll be careful! :-)

@Deepizzaguy Now I'll tell you how to pronounce it properly. It's 'Shnayder'. If you hear it pronounced in a different way, it's wrong.

@MALUSE Thank you for sharing the proper pronunciation of the last name of John Scheiner since the last name is not properly pronounced on television in the US.

The Heimlich is something once learned is something most don't forget. You hope you never have to administer it but it's good to know. I imagine choking on food is more common than people think. Go Blue Jays! And their on the spot manager

I also hope that I never have to use the Heimlich maneuver myself.

It is cute that he knew that in 6th grade. He must have been a boy scout I´m glad he knew what to do.

I do not know much about the background of John since I only heard of him when he became the manager of the Blue Jays since last summer.

That is a good question since the only save maneuver that I know is that the pat on the back to remove the object from the mouth of the choking victim.

That is true since John admitted that no one else inside of the restaurant knew anything to save the woman from choking on her food.
