My week started off well

Sunday night the cat knocked over my vase of roses from Valentine’s Day. Luckily I forgot my medicine before bed and had to come back down and saw the mess. I was able to clean it up before it could ruin the floor or the finish on the chairs. Yesterday (Monday) on Presidents’ Day I went to the thrift store my daughter works at. Everything was 10% off. I posted about some things that were for sale and a friend of mine saw the post and went and bought something for her grandson. My daughters boss loves when I post about the store. I got what you see in the photo for $13.50. I had been eyeing it for 2 weeks and went for it! I wanted an excuse to show you what I bought is why I made this post . The boys were home from school for the holiday but didn’t want to go with me shopping so they had stayed home. My husband and I both made something for dinner and had a little wine and a lovely time. I made Cheese & Bacon potato rounds and my husband made sausage (that he burned) and then there were leftovers as well. My daughter was home for the night so I was happy to get to see more of her. Today I woke up to a light dusting of snow and a nose bleed. My husband and daughter are at work and the boys are at school. It’s just me and the baby home for the day and I’m deciding what I will make for dinner.

EEEkk, snow, not exactly what I'd want that's for sure. I like that piece you bought but can't figure out what you'd use it for.

1950's party food... olives in one section, gerkins in another, those little pickled onions in a third, anchovies in the fourth and toothpicks in the covered dish, or something like that.

@rebelann I love making dips for parties so I plan to use the glass sections around the outside to put nilla wafers, pretzels etc and then the sweet dip in the center. My husband liked it and I told him I thought it would be great for parties especially his son’s graduation party next year. He said he’s seen these with cocktail sauce in the center and shrimp and other things in the outer circles. I can’t remember what the other things he said were though.

@Tina30219 it was Presidents’ Day. We wound up doing the same thing today because he was making deer meat I didn’t know how to cook so I made a pasta and veggie burger dish. Is the chicken noodle soup homemade?

@Tina30219 I don’t know many people who make their own noodles. I definitely don’t. I have made many things now with the ground deer meat I’m just not sure how to cook the cuts of it.

@shaggin Yes the soup is homemade the noodles are not though. I don’t cook deer meat either but I don’t mind eating it.

That's a beautiful serving dish. My sister gave me a white one like that last Christmas. I'm not sure when to use it but it looks lovely in our display cabinet.

We will in fact have one next week. I might consider using it, just have to think of what to serve suitable for the occasion.

@MGjhaud I plan to make a dessert dip to put in the center of mine then around the outside pretzels and nilla wafers etc. I may do ones with a fruit dip in the center and different fresh fruits around it. Veggies and dip in the center as well. My husband said he’s seen them with cocktail sauce in the center and shrimp around the outside.

@MGjhaud sounds like a nice gift. I hope you find a use for it. Do you ever host parties in your home?

@Juliaacv yep that come off the silver tray easily. I’m just a little nervous how I may transport things if I take it to someone else’s home.

I'm sorry you had the nosebleed. I've been having them lately, too. Pretty thinks I'm getting them from my CPAP machine but it never caused them before. *shrug* The fish tank keeps the air in the house humid so it's not dry air...

@shaggin When I first started wearing the CPAP machine, the air from the nose pillows cut a groove that bled all the time. Once that finally healed, I've had no problems until this Winter.

@GardenGerty it was a brief time that I went up the stairs laid down and remembered I forgot my meds and went back down. I couldn’t believe in that amount of time he made such a mess. The roses are dying now so I hung them in my cellar to dry for a few weeks. This is my first time doing it and I was to try to put them in a vintage bathing basin thing. Hard to explain since I can’t think of the real name for it but I’ll post a photo if it turns out decent.

Very nice piece, for a nice price. My mom used hers for celery, carrot, cucumber sticks and olives. With ranch dressing in the middle for dipping. You can do all kinds of things with dip in the middle. Enjoy it and the many fun parties ahead of you. Also, sorry about the nosebleeds maybe you need a humidifier in your room. Just wondering. Make life happy by finding the little Joy's.

That's sad that the cat knocked off the roses. Yesterday I had a headache most of the day. My mother couldn't find her key fob. I found it outside. She now has Tile so now she won't lose her key fob.
