Editing someone else work

Now I'm not editor but when another writer asks me if I can look at what they have. I'm more than happy to look at it and give tips or changes especially when it there first piece they have every done for the public and they want everyone to see it.
I know with myself I have to edit my stuff a lot because you know the first time you get it out its never clear enough or you might need more details or have written the same thing twice. I've done that a few times.
Here I am cleaning it up a bit hoping that he likes my changes don't worry he has his original work, I opened a few one to work on it to add what I feel might be better so that way he can see both and can be like yes or no. Of change what I added in to add more or less as I like to say flare.

This wasn't my work I was editing by my own books are paranormal romance with high smutty. I have my second book release in 25 days.

It took me all day. When it someone else work I take the time to really read it break it down so that I make changes specially when the writer is male writing in a women's POV

I'm not and acutally editor nor would somwone wants me to be a final editing this was more of a soft edit because he has never written a book and I've written two and had my husband hard edit for me. I'll do soft edits like read throught someone else work and comment or make changes as need. For him he need a lot beasue he was writing in a women's pov and he was writing like a guy would see things he also left out names which are important to any story short or long and some pieces was I could see where he was going but need a lot of work. The first time around is never good and it would have been a good thing for him to read through after he written to fix those errors so I did it and sent it back to him saying these are my suggestioned and made is 6 pages of work closer to 14 pages of work.

Its not mine but I took what he wrote copied it and added what a reader would want not what I would want. I left it as his characters his way he didn't give them names so I left them as her man and playtoy as was in the text. I cleared up parts that were unrealistic or that people would quesiton the who is the them? I didn know who them was? I added relatistic things that would happen because it was a surpise threeway to fantacy piece in the eyes of a women but he wrote in a way men would say. I took out parts that said the guy was soft readers dont' want read about any mans part being soft we want to read that he wants to be there as much as she does the sexaul tension needs to be that everyone wants a happy ending.
