Need new kitchen appliances

My mom decided that she wants to remodel our kitchen. We are living in her original house so if she wants to do it I can't say no. She is going to pay for it, however, she told us that the appliances are on us. That means we have to buy a new fridge, stove, dishwasher, and microwave. I don't really use the dishwasher except to put stuff in there that I washed that doesn't fit into the dish rack we have but I have to get it because if my mom decides to sell the house it has to have a dishwasher. What we have in the kitchen right now is GE (General Electric). The fridge is GE Profile but the other appliances are just GE. I think I want to stick with this brand. though I am open to other brands if they are considered good. Any suggestions? I went on a few websites last week (Home Depot and PC Richard) and looked for GE appliances. I put what I thought I may end up getting into the shopping cart just to see what it will amount to and which store will be cheaper to go with. Turns out PC Richard is cheaper but it's still a lot of money to spend. Not counting possible installation and haul away of old appliances it will be over $3000. I did not actually make the purchases on these websites but now I keep getting bombarded with emails from Capital One Shopping. Emails tell me "Thanks for your recent purchases" and are giving me offers to activate to save money or get cash back on appliances. I hope these emails will stop soon. I did not ask for them.

@RebeccasFarm I tried one I thought was the one and it worked lol. I unsubscribed from marketing emails. Hope that will do the trick. Couldn't find anything else that may stop these emails.

@Adie04 And some things are way over priced. Like eggs, for example.

@lovebuglena I have to agree with you on this one. Because nowadays the economy is not so good, it's wise to save money where we can.

I hate when things like that happen. I can't tell you what is good or not, because we only replaced our fridge. And, we went with Best Buy's name brand. Places like Home Depot do charge to install, but haul away is typically free.

@lovebuglena Yeah. I can understand that. Gas is risky, so if the person installing the new one isn't the one to haul away.... that seems messed up to me.

@kaylachan Gotta make sure that doesn't happen. Don't want to get stuck with old appliances.

Home Depot used to charge $25 to haul away an appliance. Now it's $40. But as we found out if it is not disconnected they do not haul it away. When our new gas dryer was delivered they did not take away the old one because it was still connected to the gas. The installation people came the next day I believe and I guess they are not allowed to haul away old appliances because they did not take it after they disconnected it and installed the new one. We went to Home Depot and complained. Got our $25 back. But now we are stuck with an old dryer in the basement. I hope hubby will finally be able to ask his brother and/or cousin for help lifting it to the curb so that recycling can take it hopefully. Supposedly dryers are recyclables.

Thank you! I hope I will not have issues with getting rid of old appliances. Had that happen last time we got a new dryer. Because our old gas dryer was not disconnected when the new one was delivered they did not take it away and now we are stuck with the old gas dryer.

@lovebuglena oh my. Well I hope it will not be the same case when you buy new ones

@rakski I will probably go with a different store than last time. Will have to inquire from that store beforehand if appliances must be disconnected for them to haul them away.

@RasmaSandra Thought all dishwashers have that front opening door. At least the ones that are not free-standing.

Thank you! I know I don't want a French door fridge. I like the one that has side-by-side doors. That's what I have now. When it comes to dishwashers I have no idea what to look for. Ours is from the 90s I think. I don't even know how they are now.

We have GE appliances now in the kitchen except for our Samsung refrigerator. I wouldn't get Samsung again. I would stick with GE. Good luck.

My mom’s friend got all Samsung appliances for her new kitchen. But that’s because she got a great deal on them. I think I only want GE. My mom has four different brands in her kitchen. LG fridge, GE stove, Samsung microwave, and Kitchen Aid dishwasher. Wonder how that happened.

Do you need to change ALL the appliances? Couldn't you just reinstall any that don't need replacing?

Yeah. We need to change all of them because they are all very old.

@JudyEv Plus a new kitchen would not look great with old outdated appliances.

$3000 for all of that isn't bad at all.

Seems like a lot but perhaps it's not. It's probably gonna be closer to $4000 though, especially if we do installation and haul away.
