Good afternoon from this side of the globe . It is sunny and warm out but the temperature is not too high to make you sweat. We have started using AC in the night since the last week. And I assume that we might have to use it for a week or two more. It starts raining here from April end and then it goes on raining till Christmas . So, the use of AC is not much here. We woke up very early today @4AM and by 4:30 we got ready and left the house. We drove to the famous botanical garden in the city. It took us just 12 minutes to reach there as there was no traffic. We enjoyed our walk there for almost 90 minutes. It was so good to walk amidst the nature, greenery, chirping of birds and the huge lake there with so many ducks is the main attraction . After 90 minutes, we came out, enjoyed the tender coconut water from the street vendor and walked down the hundred years old and very famous restaurant...Mavalli Tiffin Room( MTR). We enjoyed a delicious traditional South Indian breakfast there with their famous coffee. The place is amazing and is always overcrowded. But we managed to get a table without much wait. We were back home by 8:30..My niece got ready and left for college. My husband left a little late around 12 and I could pack some quick rice dish for him. Anyway, no one would have a good appetite for lunch after such heavy breakfast. I went for my Spoken Kannada class. This was the fourth class ( we have it twice a week) and I found that I have picked up and improved a lot. . I have been in Karnataka for more than a decade and picked up the language a bit through exposure. But then it was not grammatical correct all the time. I just managed. Since English is prevalent here, I could manage with fitting in English when I couldn't say the same thing in Kannada. I enjoy learning languages and so I thought that I would join this spoken kannada classes. There is one batch in evening too. That would be convenient for me once I am back to work in June. There are few old ladies in our apartment who are retired and have good command on languages. They are multilingual and can speak few Indian languages along with fluent English. They take these batches of spoken languages to keep themselves busy. They do it like a community service and have no charges. They just want that Indian languages thrive in coming generations and don't die because of too much of influence of English. They are doing some really good service . The community hall has few batches going on each day from morning to evening. These ladies take turns to run them. As soon as this new batch started, I joined it as summer vacation is the best time to learn something new. It's fun and I met more neighbours from the apartment and made some new friends Now here I am to myLot for a while. Hope you all have a good time in your myLot corner Are you learning something new or planning to learn soon??

@flapiz Sure, you should. There are more and more local cuisines here in different states of India. They don't find place in the Indian restaurants abroad.

I love to stay busy. I believe that it's a blessing to stay busy and engaged.. There is a long list of South Indian breakfast...Upma or Karabath, Idli ( different varieties), dosa( different varieties), vada, sambhar, pongal ( few varieties), Bisibellebath, chow chow bath, kesar bath( a dessert) etc are few very common one. That day my family enjoyed masala dosa, sambhar, coconut chutney and dessert of kesar bath. I took idli ( it has no oil) instead of dosa.

@arunima25 That's great! I am slowly learning, I'm not pressuring myself. I learn at my own pace. So, I'm enjoying it. Your daughter is amazing, she can be a future linguist.

@Jenaisle Learning at our own pace is the best way to do it. You have to enjoy the learning journey. My daughter has always enjoyed learning new languages. She is interested and so it comes naturally to her without putting so much pressure to learn it.

I am good at picking languages. So, I have learnt a few of them. I am enjoying this one too. And since this language is very much alive in the state of Karnataka where I live, I get chances to regularly practice it. My elder daughter is fluent in Spanish and French. She learnt them in her school. Currently she is learning Japanese on her own. How are you finding this journey of learning different languages??

You time at the Botanical gardens sounds like a wonderful way to start your day. The weather is changing here from winter to spring so nice weather is coming more frequently these days. April is our rainy month even though we can still get rain throughout May. Having the retired ladies teaching Indian language in your community center for free is wonderful. It's nice to keep the Indian language alive. Hope you continue to do well with your lessons. I've been watching tutorials on different crocheting patterns/stitches. I'd really like to master a new pattern.

@arunima25 I have never been able to master crocheted flowers. Your daughter must be very talented to be able to crochet flowers and stuffed toys. Usually when I need crocheted flowers for a project I have to buy them on Etsy. Being in a class that's enthusiastic and fun makes learning easier I think.

Enjoy your spring. Ours is short lived and over. A few pink blossoms are still there along the roadside and very soon they too will be gone. A big salute to these ladies . Their passion and enthusiasm is infectious. They make the class so interesting and fun. I am sure that you would master a new pattern soon. My daughter is trying all the crochet flowers and stuffed toys this summer vacation.

@Marilynda1225 My daughter is going to be 17 this Halloween day. She learnt crochet in her Waldorf school at the age of 8 and since then she is on path of self learning, exploring and trying many new things. Glad that these days, we have lot of online resources to help us with self learning. Their classes are too good..I went there today too. Enjoyed it

@JudyEv Yes, they do. Unlike others in their age group, they are happily engaged. I think they are making best use of their time. And they have a lot of companies that are much younger than them. They stay young at heart

@sathviksouvik Good that you have shared the responsibility. I work as a special educator and have my own therapy centre working twice a week in the afternoon from my home. It's summer vacation here. My daughters are very independent with their studies. Even when they were young, I had to just help them when they asked for it.
