Another red herring maybe?

Do you understand the term ‘red herring’? It means a ‘distracting or misleading piece of information’. We are wondering if the fact that our street is being steam-cleaned is a red herring or if it does indeed mean the Joe Biden might be visiting our immediate area on Friday. It seems the only topic of conversation here is whether Vin and I will get to see Joe. His ancestral home in Ballina, Co. Mayo, Ireland is immediately behind the apartment we’re living in. He would have to walk down a short lane past our door to get to his old house and I think his big flash car is too big to turn around in the courtyard. So we haven’t been abot decide if he might visit or not. And no-one is telling anyone anything which is understandable. But today, we came back from a drive to discover that our lane has been pressure-cleaned and there is not cigarette butt to be seen any more. And now they are pressure-cleaning the footpath either side of our place. It’s starting to look like he might be coming here after all. Watch this space! The photo shows a line of colourful shop fronts in Ballina.

You mean they didn't steam clean the streets and walks when they got news of yours and Vince's arrival?

I guess if you are exited to have him in town then you are getting pretty excited to see this extra cleaning. I have no interest in meeting him

@JudyEv Ahaha. That is true as a habitual change is harder to elicit and maintain.

Well, at least he did a favour to his ancestral place, they obliged the city to clean the area. I have read of the gaffe he made as soon as he arrived talking of a relative who was a baseball player... He will never learn.

@JudyEv He referred to the New Zealand Rugby team as Black and Tans (a group of British reserve troops infamous for attacks on civilians) instead as All Blacks. He never gets one thing right.

@LadyDuck Oh no! That was a very bad error on his part. His aides and everyone else would have been squirming with embarrassment.

There is a sign on the door into the lane to opening it carefully in case there is a car going past. There is no way Joe's big car could down it and turn around in the courtyard at the end.

That’s a colorful street. President Biden is supposed to be visiting Ireland. He might very well appear on that street.
