Computers!

I walked into my office/studio this morning, and my computer was off. I didn't turn it off, but.... when I turned it on, it informed me I needed to connect to more Microsoft services. I have as few as I can get away with. We do not play nicely with each other, they don't like my name or my passwords, and won't recognize me when I do have to do something that involves their doing so. So, I have alternatives. Now, they break into my 11 year old computer that has been upgraded about 7 times and want to make up and be friends? What do they think they are? an ex husband or something? I like my computer the way it is, and I have NO intention of using the cloud, or connecting my phone to it, because while I have carried a mobile phone since they were the size of a large shoe box, I really don't enjoy "smart phones" as they have not convinced me they are worth it. A phone is to talk to people, not to do business on, keep bank records on, or take serious photos on. I use a Nikon camera for that. To me, a computer is a glorified typewriter, adding machine and file cabinet, stereo, and dark room... with two screens!

I think Microsoft believes they "own" us because we use laptops/computers with their programming on them. I won't connect anything else to my laptop, either. I just started using a new HP laptop three weeks ago and it keeps telling me I'm not using it to its fullest capacity. I use what I choose to use and nothing more. If I can figure out how to stop those messages, you can be sure I will be stopping them. I hope you're having a good day, otherwise.

I refuse to connect anything to anything else too but I can't stop the updates which sometimes drives me crazy.

I don't use the cloud either. Or anything else that wants to take my personal documents. I have a USB drive for pictures and one for all of my writing and such.

You made me smile for a very simple reason, I could have written this post exactly as you did... and my computer is 11 year old.

Well, you might need to think of a compromise if you want to keep using it

You are right to handle it your way Anne. Not what they want you to do.

Hmmm, strange, I never have these problems. My head is always in the cloud(s).
