Flowering Poplar

Do flowering poplar trees grow where you live? There’s one growing near my deck that blooms every spring. The flowers are so high in the tree that I can’t see them until they fall to the ground. I find them when I go out and made this picture when I saw these poplar flowers on the ground a few days ago. They would make a beautiful bouquet but they have no stems. Do you have poplar trees growing near you?

Yes, there's a tulip tree growing in the front yard next door. It makes a mess every year.

You’re right after they’re on the ground awhile the flowers start melting. That’s what happened to the one I deleted.

@RubyHawk And the flowers can dump nectar on you if you accidentally tip them your direction to smell or look at them.

@DaddyEvil I only see them on the ground. They’d make pretty bouquets if they had stems.

We have poplar trees here around and those are the main cause of most pollen allergies.

@RubyHawk The official Government site publish the list of the trees that cause more allergies, they updated the site every day.

@LadyDuck That would be helpful if you intend to plant trees.

We have so many trees I don’t know which produces more pollen. That one poplar is the only one near my deck but there’s more along the creek which is a distance away.

Not that I know of. Any trees growing on their own here would need to be drought hardy as that's the norm here.

Deserts are in perpetual drought with a few wet years interspersed.

We have droughts but not often. We usually have more than enough rain.

I think there are, but I don't know too many tree varieties when I see them unless it's a birch.

@just4him We used to having a birch tree in our yard with a tire swing in it but that was years ago. Pardon. I think it was an elm.

I believe poplars are one of the tallest trees. They give good shade.

I had heard of this Tree but wasn't able to relate to it. Now I checked that many states in India have Poplar farming and now also remember that it is visible in the countryside when we are traveling through the Trains.

We have lots of flowering trees out in bloom currently. Everything from tulip trees to others which I don't know the names of, but all quite pretty. We have some poplar trees down the street, but I am not sure if they are in flower yet.

@RubyHawk We had a week of unseasonably warm weather last week and everything came out, but now it is below seasonable temperatures, so I hope that those blooms last. Typically our blooms are much later than those in your area due to our weather patterns.

Your poplars might bloom later since spring is later in your country.Tulips, daffodils, redbuds and forsythia have already bloomed here

@Juliaacv I thought so because you’re so much further north. We have had a few days in the eighties but it’s mostly in the sixties. We’ll soon have days in the nineties .

I am lucky in that where I live there are many trees, both along the roadside and in the nearby woods. Its Spring here now and the trees are just starting the bloom and bud again ....in a few weeks it will all look so beautiful.
