Expiry date matters?

India
April 22, 2023 2:25am CST
Today i am shifting my household items from my working place to my native place. When checking things , I came across a full packet of green Tea leaf's. unfortunately it was purchased 18 months back and expired date shows over. still i used it to make a cup of green tea . No taste difference and all But still i am afraid that is it ok to drink it.

It sounds fine to me. Tea is one of those things that doesn't really spoil very often if it's stored properly. Usually it just ends up tasting a bit stale after a while, or the flavor might be weaker than it would be if the leaves were fresh.

I believe that it is not safe to drink expired food and drinks because they already carefully studied that and people must atleast follow that for safety

I don't know if it's safe. I would have used them like you did, as long as there is no taste difference.

They need to put the expiry date because of the law but there are some products which can be used even after the due date for example Rice and all

It is perfectly safe to drink, for dry things (like tea, rice and sugar) the expiry date does not really matter.

It depends on what it is. In general, if the expiry date is not so long, I think it is no problem.
