Day 284 (Proverbs 15:21) Folly is a joy to him who is destitute of discernment, but a man of understanding walks uprightly. You know them. They were the people who always acted up in school, making fun of everyone and everything. They were the people who didn’t take their job seriously, pulling pranks for attention, though the only attention they got was a pink slip. They also complain loudly when things don’t go their way. Yet, when people act with integrity, they find favor with those they work with. Solomon said people without discernment found joy in acting foolish. But those who kept their focus on God walked with integrity. As Christians, you know foolish Christians. They act like they know what they’re talking about and will do everything they can to convince you they are walking the walk and talking the talk without any fruit in their lives. Being a Christian is a joke to them. Yet when you keep your focus on Jesus Christ, walking in integrity in everything you do and say, people will easily see the difference between a foolish Christian and one who walks closely with his Savior. Foolish Christians don’t open their Bibles, go to church, or spend quality time with God and laugh at people who do. They say they can find God anywhere and pray anywhere, but they don’t. They would rather sleep in on Sunday morning, take their dog for a walk, or do any number of other things rather than spend time with God. Yet they expect they will see God when they pass from this earth because they ‘accepted’ Jesus as Savior and Lord. Those Christians will hear Jesus say He never knew them. However, when you spend time with Jesus, open His Word, pray, and spend time with other believers getting to know Jesus better, Jesus will welcome you into His kingdom. (Matthew 25:1-13) “Then the kingdom of heaven will be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. At midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ While they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding, and the door was shut. Afterward, the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch, therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. What kind of Christian are you? Do you keep your lamp trimmed? Does the Holy Spirit live in you? Do you spend time in Bible study and prayer? Or has it been a long time since you spent quality time with the Lord? Don’t be a foolish Christian. Keep your lamps trimmed and you will never hear Jesus say He never knew you. Let’s pray: Father, let my lamp burn bright for You as I walk with You and spend time with You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 24 April 2023 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

I don`t know what kind of Christian I am, all I know is that I make sure that in the morning, I pray and talk to God

I am very concerned, Valerie, about a close friend of mine who has slowly changed in her walk with the Lord. What was once so obviously sinful to her is perfectly acceptable to her now because “after all, God loves us no matter what.” I don’t know where it was she decided only bits and pieces of the Bible pertained to her anymore. It breaks my heart.

It sounds like she doesn't have any oil in her lamp. That's so sad. I hope she can see the error of her ways before it's too late.
