How do you deal with long threads on MyLot?

Sometimes conversations go on and on on MyLot. To me, those are the most fun. Sometimes a bit of humor is involved. But sometimes threads get so long that I can't tell what someone is responding to. For example, if someone says "I disagree, you idiot," I have to respond "Disagree with what, you ninny?" Influenced by Greg from Iowa, I have started copying and pasting what the other person has said with my response. For example, if @Vandana7 says "Your choice of slides for that music video was brilliant," I can respond "Which video?" and copy and paste her statement in quotation marks below it. Do you ever get confused with long MyLot threads? How do you deal with it? Note: photo is random and unrelated to the discussion. I just liked the colors.

Long posts can be fun but yes sometimes one can get lost in the labyrinth of responses and comments. So one way is to copy paste part of another person's comment and then respond on it. The Guitar looks to be of a good quality.

I have never ever said Pony's slides selection is brilliant...he has had one peg too many so he is fantasizing.

I only have a problem when there are several of us talking on the same thread. And usually, not even then. I enjoy the long threads but stop talking on them when people stop talking to me. Thereafter, I ignore the thread.

I keep commenting unless I lose interest. When certain people are talking, it gets funny.

Depends on why it's gotten so long. If it's veered off on a tangent and becomes a conversation between two people other than the op and me, I tend to lose interest.

I don't get confused as often on long thread because I go back read and enjoy the conversation. But English could confuse me at times. I agree...Greg's way of doing things is brilliant.

@TheHorse As myLot's laziest person award winner...I will not resort to any such intelligent or barbaric methods simply because I am fond of my laziness. LOL

I find Greg's way of doing things to be barbaric and inferior. He puts the quotation before the response, making it difficult to tell who has written what. As MyLot's Stable Genius, I do the exact opposite. Of course I have both patented and copyrighted my method. "Greg's way of doing things is brilliant."

Nobody is giving you test on that...just begin by reading the previous couple of comments and if you feel you can add even a little, the conversation comes alive for you and somebody else.

The long threads are the most fun here. They get very funny and I have a good time with them even if I lose track of what is happening. The way the answers to questions are grouped is confusing. I love the discussions that make me laugh. I remember passages of discussions and answers from past myLot entries and loved them even more.

@TheHorse Yeah, I feel that way a lot. Sometimes, I just keep commenting with no real knowledge of what we are talking about. The conversation drifts to another subject and just WOW!

Quite often, people respond late...check the old posts, (even I do at times), then it becomes difficult to attend to current notifications and previous ones too...I do feel I have missed out on replying to some...but that is because of time gap.

When a threat is very long and more users jump into a discussion, the only way to go is to "repeat" the comment (copy and paste) to which you are replying.

@vandana7 If a myLotter is so kind to take the time to type a comment, I feel that the minimum I can do is to answer back. Imagine if a friend ask you something, or tell something nice and you do not even look at your friend.

It happens to me all the time, and it’s worse when you have multiple myLot members all chiming in on the same thread. And sometimes I have to go back and read dozens or more comments to remind myself of what the conversation is even about.

Yes, some threads go on forever. A couple of people copy and paste previous comments; but I just try and go back to match up the response with the last comment or question.
