You can kiss my (you-know-what) in Macy's window!

I don't even know why I just remembered this but it made me laugh. I was married 15 years ago today on the island of Cozumel in Mexico. The whole thing was wonderful. The group of 16 of us spent the day on the beach, in the pool, in the ocean drinking margaritas, etc. It was just so chill and fun. I was not a Bridezilla at all and just went with the flow. My mother, however, was getting more wound up as each hour passed. Somehow someone fed her 2 Xanax and 2 margaritas. She doesn't take pills and definitely doesn't do tequila. My uncle (her brother) saw that she was all freaked out and he pushed her buttons (no clue what he said) but managed to get her to explode on him. She screamed at him. I missed the beginning of it as I was further away on the beach. I do remember her saying "just like Dad always said 'you can kiss my a$$ in Macy's window and I'll give you 5 minutes to draw a crowd!' " She then did a backdive off of the dock. A Google search shows that the first part of the statement has been common and means you can kiss it with everyone watching. The 5 minutes to draw a crowd doesn't seem to be documented though. In any case the combination of the temper outburst, Xanax, and margaritas then seemed to chill her out and she got through the wedding and wedding dinner without further incident. It was definitely a funny moment. If I was a control freak or Bridezilla I might have been nervous or upset about their altercation but I'm not and I didn't. It all was fine in the end.

That does sound like it was a near-to-disaster thing though, glad it wasn't.

I'm just glad my uncle knew how to light the fuse so she got it out of her system

It always seems like there's one incident at every wedding. I'm glad it didn't ruin the day.
