Chocolate Bars, The King and I

Coronation Choc Bars

On my shopping trip I spotted these two chocolate bars. The top one has probably been out for years, but I only just noticed it. I suppose that since Snicker bars already have peanuts, this was a logical way to go and maybe challenge Reece’s market. Peanut butter cups are not available everywhere over her. It was okay, but didn’t make me want to rush out and buy more. Now Fry’s chocolate cream is a favourite and I like to keep one or two of them handy, for those moments of chocolate weakness! I didn’t need any of these bars, but the packaging caught my eye. A week Saturday is the Coronation of Charles III. So far, aside from news slots, I have only seen the Coronation mentioned on these bars and a giant bar of Cadbury’s milk chocolate. Have to admit I haven’t been looking too closely, though. Charles didn’t invite me, so I shall be having a lazy of it at home, drinking tea and munching on chocolate creams!

How rude that Charles did not invite you. Well, I think you will be better relaxing at home munching those chocolates. I will do the same, watching the coronation on TV.

@Ronrybs I do not believe it is mandatory. I think I will have a look time by time at a YouTube live (surely there will be an official one). The whole ceremony can be boring. I pity the kids who must be there.

@LadyDuck I think I am right in saying that it won't be as long as his mother's coronation

That's not nice of Charles to not invite you...Very rude!! I feel like having chocolates looking at those pics. I can't have any sweet for some time after relishing the jackfruits today. I don't want my sugars to spike too high.

Yes, I don't eat too much sugar, but that makes it a bigger treat when I do indulge!

@arunima25 Moderation should be the watch word all the time, so I don't eat them too often

@Ronrybs Good for you. If it works well for you.. Being a diabetic, I can't overindulge in anything. For me, any treat has to be moderated.

Why are the most interesting chocolate flavors always not available in my country. I wish we had these. They look delicious.

Well, the Snickers was okay, but the chocolate cream is particularly tasty. I suppose exporting them would need a large market as the transport costs can't be cheap

Oh goodness, that looks like enough sugar to rot my teeth. I never understood why my mom said that kind of thing, but apparently now I’ve turned into her.

I think so and that is a good reason not to go to London on that Saturday! Far too many people will be in town

That has reminded me, the other day I was reading something about re-branding (actually it was about the Brecon Beacons national park reverting to the Welsh name) and the writer said 'people don't like change, they complained when Marathon bars were renamed Snickers but now no-one remembers.' Well actually yes I do remember and I still dislike the 'new' name and have no idea why they changed it!

I still think of them of Marathon. I still don't see how changing the name made it more convenient for us

In Jersey the authorities were already putting up big signs a couple of weeks ago bearing the coronation emblem. Here in the mainland there seems to be less preparation.

Our local Tesco has a big sign up about the coronation, but that is the only one I've seen doing that

Can you imagine the amount of memorabilia that will be on sale to mark the coronation? Are the shops full of it already. Poor old Charles isn't quite as photogenic as the Queen was. I'm just hanging out to see the horses!!

Cadbury was taken over by an American company and now the choc doesn't taste like it used to
