Day 300 (Proverbs 29:3) Whoever loves wisdom makes his father rejoice, but a companion of harlots wastes his wealth. How many exotic dance clubs does your city have? How many adult bookstores? How many bars? People have endless opportunities to spend their money in ways that could destroy them. They don’t use wisdom or common sense when they walk through those doors. However, when people purpose to stay away from such places, it makes their parents rejoice. Solomon said wisdom makes a father rejoice. He warned often about people who run after harlots and said doing so would corrupt their lives and make them bankrupt. What kind of lives did you lead before you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord? Paul gave Christians a list of people who will not enter eternal life and said they were like that before they received Christ as Savior. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11) Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. (NKJV) Before Jesus became your Savior, your lives were without wisdom. You shamed your parents and attracted like-minded people as friends. It was only when someone led you through the Holy Spirit to Jesus Christ that you changed your lives and employed wisdom in your actions. When you did, your parents rejoiced in your new life. You were no longer a point of shame, but someone they could be proud of and brag about. Examine your life. What do you need to change? Let’s pray: Father, give me wisdom as I go about my day. Let me know I am not a source of shame, but a person who seeks You in every decision I make. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 10 May 2023 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

One of my best friends has an ex husband because he could not heed this wisdom. It didn’t matter that he’d come to church. He’d lead a different life in private, and it blew up in his face.
