Hubby is trying

Hubby and I have worked at one project or another for close to forty four years. This morning he reminded me that I'd had the goal of walking Rufus around the block early. I sure didn't feel like it but all three of us got around the block. Later in the morning hubby went out into one of our back rooms and ground wheat into flour- he hasn't used that machine in months. I put a cup of that wheat flour into the single loaf of yeasty bread that I made this morning. Later he checked on the baking bread and took it out of the oven at the correct time while I mowed the front street side patch of grass. The real fun today arrived after I ran into an ad and answered it YES. A lady is again selling 25 bare root strawberry plants for a measley ten dollars. I told her I'd be at her house tomorrow morning. This afternoon hubby helped me get the three cubic foot bag of dirt over to the garden area that had been tilled. It was falling into a weed patch so I hoed all that green stuff to the side and hubby helped me dump the dirt into the trench. Tomorrow we will plant. For now I wonder what we're doing for an evening meal and yawn. Hubby listens to a James Bond novel. Yawn and oh lordy. Don't ask me to move very fast. Not happening at this point.

You've had a busy day. That is a good price for strawberry plants. The yard finally dried out enough that I could go out and pull the milkweed plants and then mow the front yard. Our neighbor came over and helped me saw down an ugly tree in our yard. We took it off right at the top of the ground. I hope it won't grow back this time. I hope you have a good night.

@sallypup Yes, they are... in the ditches and fields but not in the yard I have to keep mowed or find a new house.

@DaddyEvil Pull milkweed plants? Those are prime habitat for swallowtail butterflys.

He ground wheat into flour...how many people can say they do THAT these days?! You two remind me of my great grandparents on my mom's side. They were always doing something no one expected them to be doing. I can't wait to see the eventual results of the strawberry plant!

@AmbiePam Back when daughter was young and we had zip money we ground wheat by hand. Now we are lazy and use electricity. Same with making peanut butter. Electrical but tasty and fresh peanut butter.

I hate listening to audio books. My first husband did that often and loud! I’m so impressed you grind wheat to make your own fresh flour! Happy for you to find the strawberry plants to cheap. Sounds like a busy day .

@shaggin One time I was heading home and had a long trip ahead of me, tackling a twisty mountain pass, and a National Public Radio comedy hour came on. I was exhausted but that crazy comedy kept me awake and laughing. I've been grateful for that hour.

@shaggin Audio books are especially great for road trips. I am not so tense when I'm driving in nasty traffic when I'm also listening to an engrossing book.
