Much Better

Itchiness has gone away. I have been thinking of eating oatmeal but I am having second thoughts. I have never had allergic reactions to oatmeal before but it was the last food I ate before sleeping three days ago. I woke up with rashes the next day. I have been given non-steriod medicine. They worked right off the bat Have you ever had a bad allergic reactions? What emergency home remedy worked for you? A friend accidentally ate shrimp, she was immediately given a cup of water with two tablespoons of brown sugar by the waiter. It worked.

Benadryl is the only thing I’ve ever tried when I’ve broken out in a rash determined to be caused by an allergy. And my dad keeps Benadryl and as well as an epipen on him since he discovered abruptly a couple of decades ago he was suddenly allergic to shrimp. Your throat closing up tends to put the scare in a person. Although, as he was describing the taxi driver jumping curbs trying to get him to the hospital, it DID sound funny. But only because I know he’s okay now. I’m so glad you’re better now!

Oh, I am glad your dad was brought to the hospital right away.

@Iam_jauntyjen Me too, and I love the guy, but his insistence that the hotel not call an ambulance was a bad move. At the time, his insurance wouldn't have covered it, and it would have cost him $800. So the loon waited on a taxi.

I have to use Benadryl or, if the reaction is bad, use an epi-pen and then go to the Emergency Room so they can give me an IV to stop the allergic reaction. A doctor would suggest you try eating oatmeal again, just to make sure that's what you are allergic to. Just don't eat much and watch for signs of a reaction. Good luck!

I am actually thinking of that, too.

The only really bad allergic reaction I had was to peanuts, my husband had to rush me to the ER.

@Iam_jauntyjen It could be an allergy to pollen and not food.
