As one gets old the question of who to leave what one owns crops up In the good old days the heirs were interested in as small an item as a tea set. That is not the case these days The second generation is loaded with much more than their elders. And then there is the question of many having left the shores seeking greener pastures with loads of money stacked up in their bank and properties bought They have therefore no interest in what their parents would like to give them. In our neighbourhood there are unattended properties languishing with none to care. How is to with you? Image credit:https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Abandoned_House_(2111788353).jpg

No, there are no properties languishing with none to care. If those with right to inherit renounce, the property goes to the local Government. We have both signed the Will, our Notary knows to whom our things must be given, included our house and land.

Some old houses are empty and left unattended, some houses have collapsed, and some villages have become deserted. Many young people are willing to live in economically developed areas. We are currently in an era of fewer children, and there will be a large number of vacant houses in the future.

I guess there is a lot of uncertainty on what is financially responsible, and what you owe your family loyalty wise.

As far as money is concerned that I suppose the second generation will accept but what about stuff in the house and the house itself?

You are correct on your assumption but there are no such properties languishing here too
