Don't try this method of rescuing a cat

Mookie the cat on a power pole in New Mexico

Gerry Armijo who lives in Los Lunas New Mexico did was successful in rescuing his cat Mookie who is named after Los Angeles Dodgers baseball player Mookie Betts when on Tuesday evening Mookie climbed up a power pole and was trapped for a period of 15 hours. Gerry was able to rent a rental lift to rescue his cat even Gerry asked his cousin who is an electrician to rescue his cat even though the chances of being electrocuted was a possibility. Thank goodness that Mookie was rescued by Gerry's cousin safely. Mookie was rescued on Wednesday daytime, Okay you are probably asking why Gerry and his cousin would make the attempt to rescue the cat instead of the utility persons in his town. When Gerry called the local utility company to rescue his cat, they did not come to his home in the time period that Gerry wanted. The utility company officials did show up to Gerry's home after the rescue of the cat and told Gerry and his cousin not to try this time of rescue since public utility persons are qualified to rescue animals in a power pole. Hopefully Gerry has learned his lesson to be patient when dealing with city officials when he placed a work order since losing a life trying to play hero is not worth it. That is true since I would never attempt to save a cat who is in a power line.

@Deepizzaguy I would feel terrible about this cats dilemma, but I'd be too afraid to help it alone.

He is also really lucky he didn’t get fined. I don’t think the law would look kindly on that. I understand you want to save your cat. I’d be nagging them until they rescued my pet. But that was too dangerous.

You are right since the authorities do not like anyone who plays hero in an attempt to rescue someone in a dangerous situation.

And this is part of why I don't let my cats outside.

The same with me since two kittens who live inside the home can get run over a speeding auto on the street.

It takes a lot of courage to use a lift to rescue a cat that was trapped in a power line.

I'm glad he could get the cat down without getting hurt. I hope he listens to the utility workers. I know I wouldn't even consider something like that.

I am in agreement with you that Gerry should heed the words of the utility workers since they are trained to rescue animals in dangerous places/

The cat was probably being chased by a dog on the streets that evening.

@dgobucks226 Either that or the cat was chasing another animal.

15 hours is a long time for a kitty to be stuck up on a power pole. This is another good reason to keep you pet cats either in the house only or on a leash.

That is true since cats are known for climbing trees and telephone polls when they get outside for a walk.

Oh wow, he had to rent the lift to rescue him. I would have done the same thing. Good for Gerry. I know Mookie will always be thankful too.

I agree with you that Gerry is lucky that his cousin was not harmed trying to rescue his cat the way he did.
