Dining Out Dilemmas: Concerns about Kitchen Cleanliness

A restaurant full of people

Whenever I dine out with friends, I become conscious about the cleanliness of the kitchen. However, I've never mustered the courage to personally inspect the restaurant's kitchen to ensure it meets the standards. If I were to do so and find it unclean, it might discourage me from dining out with my friends in the future. So I don’t check the kitchens there, and that’s what holds me back. How about you? Do you also consider this aspect when visiting restaurants?

I always go in the place to check it out for myself. I never go by reviews a lot. people sometimes put stuff if they don't like the place but that may be there opinion

No one is allowed to inspect the kitchen of a restaurant, unless you are one of the hygiene inspectors. I always consider cleanliness as first requisite to eat in a reastaurant.

@zainkhan121 We cannot simply because of hygienic reasons. We bring germs on us from outside. Cooks wear a white uniform and a hat.

@Ladyduck but don't you think as customers we should be allowed to visit the kitchens?

In my country, if you tried to go into the kitchen to check the cleanliness of the restaurant you would be kicked out of the restaurant. I mean you could ask them to look, but they would politely tell you no. I don’t know if they have a website that does this where you live, but here, you can usually look up if the restaurant had any violations with the health department. And that would pretty much guarantee you would be able to figure out how clean their kitchen is.

I wish I could do that too, but since I can't, I observe the waiters and see if their nails are clean, or if they are wearing protective gear, and so forth. I also observe how food is served and how they serve it. If I find these dirty and unbecoming, I would never return to that restaurant and I will just order soda.

I do not even want to think about it Fortunately I have enough immunity to withstand whatever goes on in those kitchens (lol)

I do consider these aspects. And because of that, I stay home and cook the majority of the time. A shame actually as I enjoy dining out. But I have to know the place and be able to trust the employees.
