Sad News from Japan

We got an email yesterday from my husband's younger brother, who lives in Japan (his whole side of the family lives there). He wrote to tell us that my husband's mom passed away last week. And further sad news, his younger sister also passed away from cancer a while ago. It was not unexpected to hear about his mom, because she was quite elderly and lived a good long life (she was 90 years old), but it was a shock to hear that Takako, my sister-in-law, had passed. She's younger than my husband, and she died before my mother-in-law, so she had the heartbreak of losing a child. My father-in-law died 16 years ago, not long after my own dad died. My mom died in 1996, so now my husband and I are both orphans. This is a picture of me with my Japanese family. My mother-in-law is on the right side, and Takako is in the middle with her children. Her husband is behind her in the green shirt. My father-in-law is beside me on the left, and my brother-in-law is in the back, on the right. I only got to meet Takako a couple of times, so I will always remember her as young. She was very sweet, and I am sorry for her family to lose their mom.
