Small business Sunday for me

Very sunny and sweet morning. Rufus and I dropped hubby off at church then we headed over to the town just south of us. We could have headed down to Walmart. Nope. I wanted another cover/blanket for the twin daybed that daughter will sleep in. I decided to try the Senior thrift store. Rufus is allowed in there so he did not have to sit in the warm car while I snooped. I found a soft purple cover that I think will suit my needs. I also found garden silliness: a large plastic punch bowl, like a fake cut glass, and a red kitchen rack. The combination makes for a good birth bath. I also found a very pretty bowling ball!!!! Heavy hummer but grand for an oddball garden eye catcher. I stopped at a lovely restaurant that has a natural grocery store attached. YES to local ripe strawberries. 4.50 for a pint. The clerk showed me washed strawberries that I could sample. You bet that I took her up on her offer. And a bonus: a ripe avocado. Grown in Mexico but it felt good. After hubby got home- a nice person gave him a ride- we had large cheese sandwiches for lunch. Pesto with the cheese and that luscious avocado and whoa berries. I've had fun lugging the plastic bowl out to the garden row. Hubby is offering to help me get the bowling ball out of the car. I told him I would get the wagon. We'll see if he can carry that monster from the car to the front yard.

@sallypup You have a lot of yard to use before it begins to look "cluttered".

@DaddyEvil True. It's past time that I start sweetening the yard nearest my totally tidy neighbors. I'm so mean....

@wolfgirl569 He did! Hubby packed it around the fence and said that it was the size his Dad would have preferred.

@wolfgirl569 I agree. He is pushing himself a bit physically but maybe its for the good.

I like that so many of the stores where you live allow dogs inside! And I think shopping with you would be fun.

It is great that it's ripe fruit time. We have raspberries, cantaloupe, and watermelon which we will enjoy tonight.

I can't wait to see pictures of your art. Maybe you could grow something small in the bowling ball holes.

@rebelann Have you those gazing balls for gardens? They're spendy to buy. This bowling ball reminded me of one of those but it didn't cost so much.

Hmm I only by strawberries by the pound so I can’t decide if you got a good or bad deal. I never pay more than $2.50 for a pound. I love when they hit $1 a pound in the summer. Glad you got some good buys at the thrift store. I went to a new one on Saturday that had really great prices.
