When we have good times bad ones are just round the corner

It's summer vacation in our schools. The schools should have reopened yesterday (05/06/'23). But the heat is at 45 to 48 degree Celsius at daytime. The government mercifully has extended the holidays for a week. We had an enjoyable camping in cool weather and scenic nature of North Bengal. However, personally I have been hit with unexpected ill luck. First, my cell phone has developed issues hampering my useful activities. Its speaker has refused to send out my voice to the person trying to talk with me. I had gone to the repairer to get the anomaly corrected. I spent money on it but the result is " back to square one". Next , one of my reading glasses has fallen and broken. Another more costly bad luck befallen me was that my riding helmet has been torn into pieces by our house dogs. I had forgotten to take the helmet into the house for the night. By morning, the two doggies had completed their job inspired by their nature. Only the metal part was left in one piece! These are bad times for me but I must accept my part of blame gracefully. I should have been more careful to avoid such losses. Have you ever had such times of misfortune?

Oh, that is such a shame! But at least it is three things that have gone badly and now hopefully things will improve.

Last year.... 1. Jan 5th my Dad suffered a stroke.. 2. Then in Feb had issues with the washing machine ... the concerned people were telling me change it change it but it has been such a good gal, I didn't have the heart to....want it to be around till I land in old age home or nursing home. So went on trying till mid March, found somebody who could do something about it, and well, it has been doing a decent job since then touch wood. Imagine the 62 plus old woman doing my laundry dad's laundry and household laundry for a month and a half. Damn tiring. 3. Microwave gave way too. But that was easy to sort out ..one visit of technician. 4. The water pump in the building. 5. There were quite a few repairs around two of our properties ..and one of my aunt's properties...been running around till the last month...yeah...till the last month...kinda terrace needed more water outlets, so that leaves falling from tall trees don't block them, tenants don't clean them up so last month, I went and attended to that, because water logging means water seepage into the building, and more expense and time for me. 6. The UPS gave way sometime this February, when I got carpet cleaners to come over. Not yet replaced it... 48 C is very very hot....

My dog nibbled on my newly purchased prescription glasses and it was not cheap. She broke the glasses into pieces and I couldn't even use the Oakley frame anymore coz it was also ruined.

I have had my share of misfortune over the years. Right now my tv conked out. I have another small one but can’t get it set up. I once laid my glasses beside the bed and stepped on them. It’s always something going wrong.

I am so sorry you have been hit by bad luck. All those things that break at the same time are a lot of money to be spent. Yes, I also had encountered times of misfortune. I think it happens to most of us.
