Do any of you remember your first time on a plane?

I do not. Maybe it was when I went to New York to the World's Fair. I either traveled by plane or drove cross country. I enjoyed driving cross country from the East to the West and see so many different things. I guess it brings back my traveling days because since I have come to live in Israel I only traveled here the year before I came to live here and been back to the States twice since I came to live here. I went back in the very beginning to bring things because of the wattage. It is 220 here and not 110 and the other time was to go back and work and was stuck there for 6 months and I asked G-d to bring me Home and I would not leave. So, I would like to hear whoever has traveled on a plane their first time on one.

The first time I did, I was only two years old, so I don't remember anything about it (my family moved to California). The next time I traveled by plane, I was nineteen (had won a trip to Australia & New Zealand). I didn't think anything of it, but to my surprise my sister was very apprehensive. She kept saying reassuring things, and I patted her hand, and said I appreciated her efforts, but I was fine with flying. She snapped back at me that the comforting words weren't for my benefit. I had no idea. She'd flown several times before (obviously without me), and she had never told me it made her nervous.

@AmbiePam wow, two years old is very young. Most people have something that bothers them and I guess that is what bothers your sister. She may have flown a lot but it makes her nervous for some reason to fly.

I remember the first time I rode the plane was with my parents. And ti was a very short plane ride. 40 minutes. I was maybe around 5 years old coz I wasn't in school yet. We normally start school at 6 years old. The part I remember was that we almost missed our plane coz my mom had a little accident. She sprained her ankle and we had to go to the hospital. And she was on assisted going up the plane seated in a wheelchair and she wasn't seated next to me and my dad.

@Hannihar She enjoyed our short vacation. It wasn't a serious injury. She was immediately healed after a day.

I bet you will never forget that plane ride. That must have been very hard for your Mom. Was she on crutches? Did she still enjoy the plane ride in spite of her ankle probably hurting her?

@RebeccasFarm That must have been fun getting sick on the plane. Have you flown since then? 10 is quite young. That must have been something seeing your Mom's Homeland.

@LadyDuck Did you fly from Switzerland to California and how many planes did you have to take and wasn't that a long flight? Two hours is good and I do not blame you for not liking long flights.

@Hannihar My daddy was in the United States Air Force. We were in Tampa, Florida. He was stationed there and got reassigned to a base in England. We left England in 1965 and went to Michigan.

At that time I had a trip with my friend. We went to the destination by train and went home by plane. My friend was nice to give me the seat which was close to the window so that I could see the outside. And this is my first experience to take a plane. Everything went well

@youless I am glad it went well. Have you flown on an airplane since then? That was nice that your friend let you sit by the window. It is fun to look out the window and to watch how small things are.

A few years ago was the first time I had flown anywhere. My boyfriend and I went to Las Vegas. I was nervous, but I ended up liking it. But the flight back was bad because I got sick while we were in Las Vegas. So I was sick on the flight back. I wouldn't mind flying again now that Covid isn't as bad.

The first time was in 3rd grade when I had to be flown back to my family after spending a super boring month at my grandma's house in the province. I could not recall much from the plane ride itself. I was just so eager to go home. The second flight was to New York and it felt like the first time because I was already 19 and had to fly solo. It was the longest flight ever! Plane had to refuel at least 2x.

@almostoveryou It sounds like you had quite an experience on the plane. I am sorry your very first time on the plane was not enjoyable. Did the plane go straight to New York? I have been back to the States a couple of times since I came to live in Israel and when I landed in New York I had to take another plane to where I was going. It is very tiresome long flights. From Israel to New York a long flight too. Did you watch a movie? On long flights, they have movies on the planes.

@almostoveryou I always liked going out of Chicago when I went to Israel. So you were on one plane. Did you see anything of Anchorage and Chicago. I am from Minneapolis so I visited Chicago and also flew out of there once. I was told I had to fly out of New York in order to go back to Israel instead of Chicago. I was sad about that. It sounds like a long long plane ride. I am glad that the person helped you through the plane ride and chatted with you. That is too bad they did not have where you could watch movies. Nowadays if on a long flight should be able to watch a movie. That is too bad it was before they put them on planes. I am glad that you could chat with the person to help the time go fast for you.

@Hannihar from Manila we had a short layover in Seoul, then plane had to refuel in Anchorage. After Anchorage, we stopped by Chicago for a change of planes then it's JFK. I spent the time chatting with a male Korean passenger. I appreciated him so much because he kept me so comfy and busy the whole time our plane was passing through Japan. At that time, the airplane didn't have a device where you can watch a movie. There was only radio? that I could listen to with an earpiece. That's what I remember. I dream of riding a plane with Wi-Fi so I wouldn't get bored. Either that or I download episodes of Korean dramas on my device so I'll have something to be busy with.
