Is it a bad motive if you want to please God because you are after blessings and favor? I want to experience God's love and favor so I think all the time how can I please Him. I believe the thoughts running in my mind can please God. I believe He is not just please with my religious activities but also my non religious activities like washing the dishes, cooking, watching TV, eating foods. Seeing me enjoying life makes Him happy too. Being good to others please Him too

While it is perfectly normal to want blessings and good things to happen to you, eventually you should want to get to the point where you want to serve Him to show Him love and praise, not just to receive things. Don't get me wrong: you are normal. But as we grow in our faith we should evolve, and see our relationship with Him grow and mature. Someone once said too many Christians look at God as a genie; they hope if they do the right thing, they'll get the proverbial three wishes. That being said, God encourages us to ask for blessings, He wants us to ask Him to meet our needs! As our Creator, He also wants us to desire His will too. He wants you to want what He has planned for you, and not just yearn for our own desires. You know the verse that starts, "Seek he first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:23) Essentially, we want to do God's will even more than our own. I personally struggle with that on occasions. But if we learn to think about it that way, suddenly you will want for yourself what God wants for you. And you will find His blessings begin to rain over in abundance.

Everything is true. I hope one time I come to God purely to make Him happy or please in my life not because I want something in return. For now I feel that whatever I do should make God happy

"Love the Lord God with all thy Heart, Mind, Soul and Strength, and thy neighbor as thyself"...is all that is required to please God.

God loves us all with an unconditional love, and hopes that we all can love him too, and live a purposeful life for him, as well. God is pleased when we live this way, and live a life, fulfilling his will in our life, even as he was pleased with the life of his own son too. Matthew's gospel, chapter, verse 17 says that God said this about his son: "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." We should live our life, in such a way then, that God will be pleased with it, the way we are living it too.

@averygirl72 Yes, I agree. God's love is always on us, and so we should try to please him with our living a life of love for him too, as much as we can do so.

That is true that God appreciates it when His children praise Him for all of His blessings on us.

There is nothing wrong or bad if you want more blessings and make extra efforts to get them. As long as you try to do good whether to please him or for your own personal happiness, I think your effort matters. Also, I think that doing good for others too counts.

I try to observe the Golden Rule when dealing with others. I am sure whatsoever I do to the least of my brothers/sisters that I do unto Him. God bless.

I have a different opinion, I do things to make myself feel good, of course to choose things that are good for me and my environment.. I think that whenever it is good for you, God is also good with it. I really don't try to think about what God thinks, because I'm sure he wants my best
