Come and admire my chickens, says Mother Hen

One of our chores at our present house-sit is to let this hen and her four chickens out of their pen in the morning and to put them back in each evening. We also clean their water bowl and give them pellets. The hen is an Isa Brown, well known for their laying qualities. This one is a really attentive mother too and very quiet. Today, she brought her little family right up to the kitchen door. Perhaps she wanted to show them off.

Or, and this is just my guess, she saw you taking photos of the other inhabitants of the farm and wanted to make sure you got a good photo of her family to show to us, too.

They look so adorable! Do they let you pet or hold them?

No, it would upset the mother too much. But this breed become very quiet very easily and are great as pets for children as they quickly learn to tolerate being picked up and/or held.

@allknowing I think so but once they're in their pen, they go up a ramp into their house and you can't see what they do. But I'm sure she does.

I love to see the hen and her chickens. My aunt used to raise chickens, the chickens there liked to poop on the terrace of my aunt's house. how about your chicken? does the chicken there have a different behavior.
