My sister caught the culprit of her plant

My sister planted two local lemons and they're growing taller but she noticed the leaves are not in good shape. She cannot find the worms. She prayed pesticides but to no avail. Every morning, she finds out the leaves are getting fewer. Then, I helped my sister the insects eat the lemon leaves at 2 in the afternoon. I was taken aback. I went upstairs to present a proof. I looked at the insect closer it's not a worm. It looks like a grasshopper inside its bag . It looks at me, lol and shot it closer. I dunno what insect is this. I told my sister not to kill it and she didn't kill but remove it while eating, pity! My sister said its a big worm but it has legs. What do you think is this insect? Image is mine.

Looks like a chrysalis, a caterpillar that has eaten its fill and is changing into a moth or butterfly

@Ronrybs It's a green locust, unfortunately from two years we also have them. They eat the leaves.

I thought it was a grasshopper, but the “head” is thicker than the ones you normally see in the United States.

@cacay1 Oh, good lord, a locust. Now, I’m thinking of the Biblical plague of locusts. I hope your sister can get rid of them.

@AmbiePam, you are right, the head is thicker, so it is locust. It is huge than a grasshopper.

@cacay1 I do not spray because I do not want to use chemicals on my vegetables. I try to catch they and I throw in a pail full of water and I put a lid on it.

@cacay1 Some caterpillars grow on the chlorophyll of the plant. That's their nutrition.

@Kandae11, it's an awesome insect. Maybe the leaves of this lemon are edible and medicinal.
