What do you think is a better Investment? Gold or Real Estate...

India

Hello friends, I have an assignment at college which pertains to the Case study of Investment Opportunities. We were asked to weigh different options and draw up a conclusion on the pro's and con's of the topic. I was reading more about it and then I had this idea of posting it here and getting inputs from people aroun the world. What is the best option? Is investing in a stable Currency like Euro or USD recommended? Thanks, good day.

I think it would be real Estate. That is just my opinion because you can always sell. Right?

But real estate is subject to correction right? But I haven't heard of gold prices depreciating and they are quite stable.

What do you think about Investments in the Stock Market? I forgot mentioning it in the discussion, but, stocks are like a roulette, you never know which way they turn.

Agree, you can invest in real estate for short time results while using gold as a long term solution.

Yeah, it surely is. In the city where I live, people have become millionaires overnight after a real estate boom, and the boom is showing no signs of dying down as land prices have simply richochetted off towards the sky in Bangalore. But Gold is steady and stable, what do you say?

For the last 3 years, investment in real estate (with good title deeds and clear ownership)is far more better than gold, although gold prices keep increasing. Money in real estate is doubling in 3 years compared to incremental increase in gold. This is more so for Bangaloreans.

Thankyou sir, it's true that land prices are sky rocketing and the recent report that a square foot of land in a Prime locality in Mumbai, which offered panoramic view of the lovely city, costed around Rs.73,000 ( around 1660 US dollars ) further bolsters your views and I too think it's a very good option. But gold is better when it's long term investment, what do you say? Thankyou sir, for your response. Good day to you.

i think both of instrument is very favourite invesment for nowadays, but i think gold is better invesment. Gold make significant price improvement in the last 2 years, and will improve in every year because demand for gold also improvement. India is the bigest consument of gold and demand for gold always improve in the next year Many country in the world have made a gold as their fund reserves because they woried about USD($) shown bad performance and more fluctuatife

Agree with your point of views. Yeah, the Dollar has been a bit shaky of late, it's no more the same old robust currency it used to be. Yeah, India surely is the largest market for gold and the gold rush is showing no signs of decline Thankyou for responding, good day to you. What do you say about stock market investments? Bye.

Investment in gold is more secure and easy to buy but if you want high growth rate then it is better to invest in real estate. Investment in real estates varies from place to place with in each country. In recent years the growth rate in real estates increase very fast and between 3 to 4 years of investment it yields almost double the money, gold has no such potential to make money double in just in 3 years. Therefore, if you want more security then preference goes with gold and if you want quicker growth of money then invest in real estate.

Well, I completely agree with you sir. You need a cushion to take the blow if you incur losses in Stock Trading. It can be fatal investing all of the money in it. Your answers warranted a best response mark, sir. Thankyou once again. Good day to you, bye.

Absolutely sir, I think I'm also of the same opinion. But the fact that gold is slow has been a thing of the past, I think gold values have almost doubled in the last 5-6 years. I think gold is worth the time instead of playing the high stakes real estate musical chairs! What do you think about Investments in the Stock Market? I forgot mentioning it in the discussion, but, stocks are like a roulette, you never know which way they turn.

Thanks for best response remarks. Well, you raised the good question. Yes, I agree with you, investment in stock is pure gambling. All the time you have to keep your eyes on the market. Since last year one year there is tremendous growth stock market. In my opinion, investment in stock need back cushion. If your have the capacity to bear loses then it is not bed idea to invest in stocks.

According to my experience gold is the best choice. I'm not saying that real estate is not good, but gold seems more flexible and almost as "liquid" as money. It's easier to buy, and it's easy to sell as well. Here in my province almost everyone invest their fund in gold. I'm sorry I cant explain scientifically as I dont economical study background. Cheers!

Your views have been very helpful, and you don't need a background, it's the experience which counts. I agree with your views and thank you for giving me invaluable insights. Good day to you, bye.

I don't think I understand your point of view, au contraire, It's real estate which makes quick bucks and gold is slow, but steady in it's ascent. Don't you think so? Could you please shed some more light, please? Thankyou, Good day to you. Regards.

Seems like gold would be a good thing to buy. If you buy real estate you could be caught up in the imminant domain law and have your property seized if a government agency deems it appropriate.

Oh yes, I hadn't quite seen it from this point of view. Thankyou so much for your valuable feedback, they have been of immense help. I also feel gold is very steady and stable, whereas real estate can make or break you.

I would say that Real Estate is the way to go. If you are going to try to make money with the real estate you can rent it out to bring in some more.
