I watched Treasure Planet. It has Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emma Thompson, Martin Short, Roscoe Lee Browne, Corey Burton, Dane A. Davis, Laurie Metcalf, and Brian Murray. Big Warning: there is some violence. This movie is loosely based on the book Treasure Island. I never read the book. In this movie, a boy named Jim Hawkins wants his father's attention and love. He also wants to be an explorer and to go to Treasure Planet. His mother says it's a myth. One day he helps a creature who is a pirate. He is protecting a magic ball. Creatures come looking for that ball and destroy the diner his mother owns. Jim opens the ball and it is map to Treasure Planet. He and a scientist named Doctor Doppler find a ship and a crew. John Silver is part of the ship. He is a cyborg and he is wanting the treasure at Treasure Planet. He does befriend Jim later on. They do make it to Treasure Planet, but it was rigged to explode so they don't get much treasure sadly. John Silver gives Jim the treasure he got and Jim uses it toward a new diner for his mother. I loved this movie. Next week I'm watching the 1950 version of Treasure Island.

I remember when this movie came out, and I didn’t think they marketed it well. It looked like a good one.

It sounds interesting. The 1953 version is original. Same characters.

Thanks for the review. I wonder how different the 1950 version will be.

I love this movie, the story flows and the theme. I also like those flying pirate ships that should be use in water. I just feel sad at the end because after the challenges they faces, they only got a few pieces of treasure. This movie has a lot of lessons in life.
